My Best Friend example essay topic
I assumed my attempts in making friends would be hopeless with these covert people, which were foreign to me. Little did I know that my encounter with the best friend I would ever have lay not far ahead on my path to a new life. One searing august afternoon, I was riding my modest 50 cc scooter, a prized possession at the time, around Maplewood Drive, my new and unfamiliar street. I was accelerating to the top of the hill when I noticed two kids around my age watching apprehensively from their front yard.
"Hey", they called out after me. A sigh of relief surged through my body with the small but important sign of hospitality these potential new friends had expressed. They went on to introduce themselves as I shyly responded, despite my nerves. It turned out that the older boy, Sasha, was my age, and attending the same school, as was his younger sister, Mina, a year younger than myself. As time passed, I hung out with Sasha more and more. He introduced me to his circle of friends, which accepted me as if they had known me forever.
With no idea of what to expect previous to moving to California, I was pleasantly surprised to find a group of such genuine friends like I had never had before. It was a reverie to have friends who I could relate to so well. In no time, Sasha had become my best friend. We spent every hour together skateboarding, swimming, or just messing around.
Of all our times together, the most memorable were the weekends spent at his houseboat, childhood memories I will never overlook. No matter what the activity was, it was bearable with Sasha around. As Sasha and I became inseparable, I began to notice how much he had improved my life, and influenced me for the better. Most people live their lives without the sanction of a best friend like Sasha, the epitome of a friend. He possessed everything desirable in a perfect companion.
He understood me entirely, and always had my best interest in mind. Being a grade ahead, he was like an older brother figure to me. He was always able to give me the best advice, and relate to my experiences. I tend to do things out of impulse, rather than common sense.
Knowing this, Sasha was always there to help keep me out of trouble and monitor my decisions. One particular experience with Sasha sticks out in my mind, for it was a reflection of Sasha's protective character. It was a mundane Saturday night when Sasha, our group of friends, and I decided to attend a high school party, although we were only 8th graders at the time. When we arrived I noticed a few acquaintances of mine sitting at the table. I greeted them elatedly and sat down. A few moments later, one of them pulled out some cocaine and offered it to me.
At the sight of lighting up with anticipation, Sasha tightly wound his hand around my wrist and wrenched me out of the party. Although I was irritated by this act at the time, it demonstrated Sasha's indisputable care for me, as he was once again, looking out for me. Sasha also never permitted me to endanger myself driving drunk. This could have saved my life countless times. Moving to California was an experience which shaped who I am today in many ways. Most importantly, I met my best friend, who taught me more than anyone else in my life.
Although prior to the move I had my doubts, moving to California was the best thing that ever happened to me, being that I met a lifelong friend. Sasha will always be a significant figure in my life because of his compassion, understanding, and caring nature. Sasha taught me the meaning of a true best friend, and I couldn't ask for more..
