My Drug Experiences With Friends example essay topic
The more drugs you do the less will you have to say no and the easier it is for people to persuade you to take that pill with them. Friends dont persuade you because they want you to be bad like they are or any of that other crap you see on anti-drug commercials on television. Your friends want you to be there so that they can have fun with you while on the drugs together... It is generally true that I have had most of my drug experiences with friends and it is also true that I have made some true bonds with people while on drugs.
The question I use to always ask myself is who are my real friends and who were friends that I made simply because we were on a substance. It is so easy to bond with someone while on drugs, especially ecstasy. On the drug ecstasy its possible to bond with someone while that you have never gotten along with and probably never will again. My girlfriend who I dated for about three months, while knowing that I was gay, I met through drugs. Since she and I were generally high on something at all times our relationship was completely (what does this mean through) and because of drugs. I have not spoken to her for over five months and if we did speak we would probably have little interest in each other.
This is not an uncommon thing to have happen in the drug community. The drug community is the tightest community I have ever seen in my life. Everyone knows everyone or at least someone, through somebody else. Theres that game a lot of people play where you link a movie star to another movie star through another movie star. That game can so easily be played in the drug community. I think this is why a lot of people get stuck in the drug community.
I know its why I was stuck in it for a good deal of time. Everyone has his or her own piece of popularity, especially in the rave world. There is a common understanding within the community, were all screwing up our lives in some way or another through using drugs and we all have an understanding of most if not all drugs. Theres also a lot of sex in this community, mainly because of ecstasy but also because of the great misunderstanding of freedom and the tremendous lack of respect for health and life. This community is, as well, the shadiest group of people you will ever meet In one instance you will be cuddled up with your best friend and the next day that person will hate you. A good example of this was during a rolling party I went to, where my friend Sarah had been selling pills.
(I cut out some stuff here) We had all been rolling for about three hours and were having a hard comedown. Sarah only had three pills left and split one with me and sold the other two. My friends who were not able to buy more, desperately wanted to began to make phone calls to find pills somewhere else. The part that truly bothered me was how one of Sarahs and my closest friends acted. His name was Jacob and he lived in the apartment in which the party had been taken place.
He felt that it was Sarahs responsibility to save him a pill and he screamed at her then stormed away to his bedroom where he spent the next hour. The pills came an hour later and suddenly he was happy again and not mad. No apology, nothing. Drugs will make you lie, cheat, manipulate, persuade, and steal.
The time that drugs are most addictive is the coming down time. This is especially bad with ecstasy and coke. When your coming down it is like a steady slide from feeling wonderful to feeling the worst you ever have in your entire life, both physically and mentally. For ecstasy this slide is very bumpy and goes up a little and drops, and up a little and drops for about two hours. During this period you become very dependent on the drug.
You will steal even from friends verbally (persuasion) or physically to gain another hit or some more powder. Slowly but surely a drug user becomes more and more dependent on drugs and slowly learns that they cant live life without them. This does not mean that they are always high. Drugs change your perspective on life and cause you to feel as if you have higher self-esteem, you have a greater community of friends and that you fit in. This causes the user to not want to stop and to only want to do more drugs more often leading to harder and harder drugs. This of course costs more and more money leading to more theft.
Drugs make you feel wonderful about everything while, at the same time you are hating every part of your life. You will be ecstatically happy while extremely depressed. You will think you came so far in such a short time. Youll think you have higher self- esteem, closer friends, youll think youre popular, and youll feel like your over coming all of your faults. Youll not care what your family thinks since its your life, not theirs. You wont care about school since all it is is a piece of paper.
You wont care about anything except yourself and your friends. Then one day, who knows when, youll wake up and realize that all you have is yourself and your destroying yourself with drugs. Youll realize that instead of increasing your self esteem you have lowered it. You can only talk to people who use drugs because you feel no self worth around any one else. Youll realize that your not popular at all and in fact you have no true friends, only friends who feel safe around you because youre a user and will use you for whatever they can. Youll realize that all you truly have is your family who you have been ripping apart with pain and worries.
Youll realize that you will get no where without an education. You will realize that you are slowly killing yourself and hopefully you will wake up and bring yourself back to life.
