My Need For An Education example essay topic

503 words
When I was a little child, I always dreamed of going to college and finishing my education. Education was the only secured thing to do in my country to make money. In Egypt, getting into a law or medical school requires lots of money, and it is extremely hard to get into them. I have always dreamed of achieving my goals and satisfying the needs of my family when they need my support. Education was the best and only choice. I went to middle school in Egypt, but I did not feel that I really learned anything.

I decided to take actions and complete my education in a better place. My family decided to immigrate to the United States, so I could finish my education. We arrived in the United States on August 8, 1999. It felt strange when I arrived in this new place. It was the first time in my life riding a bus in the airport with front and side entrance, and I thought it was very cool.

Everything was different; food and water tasted different, and the streets looked different than the streets in my country. I realized that no one uses the car horn on the street; in my country I heard it all the time. I figured out later that you could get a ticket if you use it excessively. In the beginning, I was thinking of going to high school. Luckily, summer vacation was almost over and the new school year was approaching, I went with my aunt to fill out the applications to be enrolled as a freshman. At first I was scared because I did not speak English very well, and I did not know anyone at school.

I did my best to learn from my classmates, and teachers helped me out when I got stuck on something. After experiencing all these high school years, I learned lots of new things. The experience of knowing new people and working with them helped me with my social life. Finally, I graduated from high school and got my diploma with honors.

When the summer session started in Cerritos College in 2001, I decided to take a couple of classes so I could get used to the college atmosphere. I took twelve units, and it was a great experience because I saw how college worked. I also wanted to finish some of my college classes required to transfer so I would not stay in Cerritos College long. My need for an education was the thing that pushed me forward to accomplish what I wanted. The only reason I came to the United States was to be successful, and I am sure that I have accomplished a big part of this dream. I always knew that I did the right thing when I came to the United States to complete my education.
