My New Mountain Bike example essay topic

495 words
My new mountain bike! I remember the first day I got my new mountain bike. It was April 20th 2000, my thirteenth birthday and I was so excited that I finally had a bike with 21 gears. I was anxious for the next day so I could see how quickly I could get my paper route done.

I was always used to my old bike with no gears and I had to pedal like crazy to get any decent speed. I was extremely happy with the choice of bike my father had bought me and I wanted to show my friends. When I arrived at my friend's house, we all came up with this great idea to go jump off the sand cliffs behind our neighborhood. We all rode our bikes out behind the neighborhood and started jumping off the cliffs. After about a half an hour of jumping and rolling in the sand, I got a great idea.

Why don't I test out my new bikes off road capabilities? I decided that I wanted to ride my bike down one of the hills, but I had to find just the right one. We searched and debated over which hill was the best, until I had had enough and just decided to go down the closest one. As I headed down the hill I realized at the bottom, another hill went straight up, so basically, I was riding my bike down the inside of a "V" shape. As I slammed on my breaks alls I did was slide. There was no stopping now.

Within a matter of seconds I had hit the bottom, where the two hills met, and came to a sudden stop. Not only did I get whiplash from the stop but I flew off my bike and did a face plant into the hill of rocks. When I got up and pulled my bike out of the sand, I realized I had bent the forks on my bike. My tire was rubbing against the frame of my bike and I knew my dad would be mad.

I left my bike at my friend's house for weeks and my father repeatedly asked me where it was. I told him I had left it at my friends and I was too lazy to go get it. My dad eventually forced me to get my bike and when he saw what happened, sure enough, he was mad. He asked me a thousand times, "how do you break a bike in one day?" I didn't know what to say so I blurted out, "I'll fix it!" Bad mistake. For the past few years I have been riding around on a bike that you can only turn if your pedal is not in the way of the tire, and farts when you go straight.
