Necklace To Her Friend Mme Loisel example essay topic
You ever feel like you are free? In the short story "The Story of an Hour", by Kate Chopin, Mrs. Mallard never has. She had lost her husband in a train wreck. At least she thought she had lost him. Her husband, who was believed to be killed in a train wreck and from Mrs. Mallard hearing this she had the felling of finally being free. She had mourned him for just a little bit and then felt free.
Free from society and free from his control. Now she was able to do whatever she wanted and didn't have to worry about her husband finding out. In the story "The Necklace" by Guy de Maupassant, feeling free was a little bit different. In this story Mme. Loisel was in the lower bracket of the middle class in society. Her and her husband got invited to go to a fancy party by Mme. Georges Ramponneau. She had to find something to wear.
She ended up borrowing a necklace from one of her friends that had a lot of jewelry. She ended up borrowing the prettiest necklace that her friend had. At the party Mme. Loisel ended up loosing her friends necklace. So instead of ruining her good name and reputation she ended up work as hard as she could for the next ten years and bought a new one. Once she was done working so hard she felt free because she didn't have to work so hard anymore. Once she returned the necklace to her friend Mme. Loisel found out that it wasn't all real diamonds, it was "paste".
(52) So after that she felt free because the debt was paid off but then she was thinking to her self what she could have had if she wasted her good name and reputation, and didn't try to buy a great necklace for her friend. In my opinion these stories were pretty good. They were both about two different things. From "The Story of an Hour", and the wife thinking her husband was dead and feeling free to "The Necklace" when Mme. Loisel would have been free if she could have disgraced her good name and reputation.
