Trees don't grow very fast so if that number remains that high, we will run out of trees very soon.

But if we recycle, that number will decrease because when you recycle, the need for new raw materials also decreases. If everyone recycled, a number of things would be better: we would have better protection such as cleaner air and water, we would conserve more things like energy and raw materials, reduce the number of hazards like pollution and global warming, and increase our economy by creating new jobs and saving money. Nothing bad comes out of recycling, only good. This is why everyone should recycle. These days, everyone is so concerned about their health and for how long they are going to live. The main factors that determine these things are based on how you live your day-to-day life.

If you don't take proper care of yourself, obviously you won't live to be too old. But if you do take care of yourself, you will live longer. A way to take good care of yourself is to live in a good environment with little pollution. When you recycle, it reduces the amount of pollution. In most cases, making products from recycled materials creates less air and water pollution versus making products from new materials.

If you are careless, and just put your recyclable materials in with your trash, it gets taken to a landfill or incinerator. At these places everything just gets burned, not matter what it is. This causes extreme air pollution from all the hazardous and recyclable materials that are being burned. If you take out those hazardous and recyclable materials, less is left to be burnt meaning less pollution. We need to reduce the amount of waste and pollution, then we can live longer, healthier lives!

Another concern that many people have is the lack of raw materials and energy that we have. Our trees aren't as plentiful, our water isn't as clean, our energy isn't always reliable and there is not a great bounty of oil and minerals. When people recycle, it helps to replenish all of these things. If just one tonne of paper is recycled, it can save up to seventeen trees. Recycling keeps water clean by reducing the amount of trash put into oceans and seas.

With clean water, marine life survives and we have clean water to drink. It usually takes less energy to make recycled products; to make recycled aluminum, for example, it takes 95% less energy than new aluminum. When making new products from recycled materials instead of new materials, we reduce the need to drill for oil and dig for minerals. If everyone recycled, we would have more of the materials that we need while creating less waste.

A further concern that people have is the issue of waste taking up land and global warming. Recycling reduces many hazards because when you recycle, less waste is put into the landfill sites and incinerators. Nobody wants to live beside a landfill site or incinerator, so this poses a problem for urban development. Also, these waste disposal sites are taking up valuable agricultural land that should be used for growing our fruits and vegetables.

When the materials that you recycle go into new products, they don't go into landfills or incinerators, so landfill space is conserved. All of the waste in landfills and incinerators is burned, which is what mainly causes global warming. So, if the amount of waste is decreased, the amount of harmful materials being burned is aswell. We need all the land we can get for agricultural and urban purposes, and recycling gets us that land. A last major concern people have is that of money and having a good job.

Recycling creates both of these things. The recycling process creates many jobs; more than landfills or incinerators. Also, recycling is the least expensive waste management method for cities and towns. So, if you are low on money, recycling is the way to go. Recycling is such an easy thing to do and yet not many people actually do it. We benefit from even the smallest acts of recycling so anything that anyone can do to help is awesome.

If everyone recycled, then many things would be better in our world. The challenge is zero waste, can you do it?
