Night Vs Schindler's List example essay topic

Many similarities exist between Night, Schindler's List, and the documentary. All three followed the same progression and sequence of events. At first, the Jews were just placed under house arrest after losing their businesses. Soon after, they are moved into dingy ghettos. From there, the men and the women were separated and herded into cattle cars which took them to concentration camps.

There in the camps, Jews were forced into labor working for the Nazis. When the war was nearing its end, the Jews were sent to be exterminated; even up to this point in time, they were optimistic. In Night, Moshe the Beadle was captured and taken away. When he returned, he told of unimaginable horrors. He told that prisoners were forced to dig their own graves while babies were thrown and used as target practice.

In the documentary, it mentions how many Jews did nothing, thinking that if they complied with the Nazis, everything would have been fine. Same thing happened in Schindler's List, though the Jews portrayed thought that it could not get any worse. Their life took a drastic decline entering the concentration camps. The concentration camps were detention centers specially aimed at imprisoning all Jews. All Jews entering the camp were burned with a number. Daily life was harsh, with demanding forced labor.

Lack of skills at work meant death. In Schindler's List, S.S. Officers were shown executing and beating Jews mercilessly. In Night, an S.S. Officer was mentioned who abused Jews by beating them with the back of their guns. The documentary focused on "scientific research" when in reality, they were torture chambers where millions of Jews suffered. In the concentration camps, Jews slept in close quarters most often two to a bunk if not more. Their heads were shaved and from the documentary, it showed massive piles of hairs used to make cloth.

Cloth was important in keeping warm as Eliezer was constantly out in the freezing cold. Food were given in limited quantities. In the documentary, Schindler's List, and Night, the Jews mainly ate stale bread and bland soup. The documentary and in Night mentions the significance of having a spoon; the spoon was life.

Jews were taken from their businesses, homes, and families. They were sent to concentration camps, and it is there that they meet death, or the greatest test of faith and hope. From the documentary, Jews were tattooed by burning it into their skin. Horrific acts of inhuman proportions. From Schindler's List, Jews mourn and remember loved ones from a darker time. From Night, Eliezer finally saw himself in the mirror after the camp.

What he saw terrified him. The survivors of the Holocaust will and always be scarred for life.
