Precis Chapter 1 o The story of Pilgrim's Progress is a dream dreamt by John Bunyan while in Bedford Jail. o In this dream, Bunyan sees a man, Christian, with a book in his hand and great burden upon his back. o At the beginning, Christian (main character) is very disturbed by his great burden upon his back and believed the world would be burned up with fire, which troubled him all the more. o Christian began to tell of troubles to his family, but they thought he was just going temporarily insane. o Christian's main worry was what he must do to be saved. o While walking through the fields one day, Christian meets the Evangelist who shows concern about Christian's inquiry's. o Christian informs Evangelist of his questions about how to be saved, and Evangelist told him to follow the light, where he would arrive at a gate and there all his questions would be answered. o With this information, Christian left his family and friends to find the eternal life he was continuously longing for. o On the way to the gate, Christian met two men by the names of Obstinate and Pliable. o Both Obstinate and Pliable tried to avert Christian from his way to find eternal life. o Obstinate showed no care for anything about the book Christian had, and told Christian that he was a fool for trying to go and find the truth. o Pliable was easily persuaded to go with Christian because of the glories that are ahead of them. o As Christian and Pliable went on their way, they continued to talk about what in the book and Christian continued to inform him of all that was in store. o On their way, Christian and Pliable came upon the Slough of Despond. o At the Slough of Despond, Christian found himself beginning to sink into the mire because of the great and heavy burden upon his back. o Because Christian began to sink, Pliable became offended. He was upset because he thought that what Christian had said would a problem free life, and it was turning out to be the opposite. Therefore, Pliable left Christian and went his way. o As Christian struggled in the Slough of Despond, a man by the name of Help assisted him out of the slough and bid Christian to go his way. o Then Christian inquired of Help about the City of Destruction, and Help advised him to not go there. o All the while, Pliable was sneakily trying to make Christian's life harder by making a mockery of the burden on Christian's back. o As Christian went on his journey, he met Mr. Worldy Wiseman, who lived in the town of Carnal Policy. o Mr. Worldy Wiseman advised him to get rid of the burden on his back as soon as possible so he can therefore enjoy true rest. o Christian told him that Evangelist had already told of how to rid himself of the troublesome burden, but Mr. Wordly Wiseman showed immediate disgust for when he heard Evangelist's name. o Mr. Worldy Wiseman proceeded to tell him that the way that Evangelist had directed him was completely incorrect, and that way would be dangerous and all the more troublesome. o Christian informed Mr. Worldly Wiseman that he acquired his burden by reading the book in his hands. Mr. Wordly Wiseman then told Christian that the book he had been reading was full of distractions and a waste of time. o Mr. Worldly Wiseman then informs Christian to go to Mr. Legality's house for a true cure on how he can be rid of his burden on his back. o On his way to Mr. Legality's house, Christian meets with Evangelist again and informs him of what has happened so far to him. o When Christian tells Evangelist of that he's going to Mr. Legality's house, he bids him not to go, and tells him the true way to eternal life and ease from his great burden..

As probably any student, I was quite hesitant about asking somebody else to do my assignments at first. However, after EssayPride has sent me my first paper and I've read it, I understood that I could actually learn a lot from them. The research they've done was impressive and I understood the topic even better than after going to class and reading my textbook. I am not using this website to "cheat", I am using it as a tutoring service, they help me to understand the material better.
