One Government View example essay topic
The two most important times when we need to have people with us is when we are born and when we die. One government view is that anyone who attempts suicide must be experiencing extreme mental problems, so they should not be allowed to kill themselves. So what are you going to do wait until you are declared mentally fit before you can kill yourself? Here you have an old person weak, ill and hopped up on drugs, there is no regard for their dignity or respect for their wishes. Put to rest not only the patient, but also the anguish of the family and friends as well as doctors who have a lot of pressure on them from the patient, family members, hospital administration, the law as well as their own ethics. Can they be able to work at their best?
Politicians don't really care, the deciding factors to a politician; is all about the votes, which will cost them the least votes, the pro-lifers or the pro-quality-of-lifers. When people find themselves coming to the end of their life due to ill health they are forced to suffer. Modern medicines may be a great thing to keep people alive and without pain, but from another point of view they could be a form of torture just prolonging the inevitable. But I guess we are living in an age where death is becoming more common (not that it was ever uncommon) and accepted, maybe soon the government will see where the votes are and change direction, well anything to keep the power and the perks, and then people may have the right to choose not only how they live but how they die. Of course if it does come about we must be cautious about the way it is done, for where there's a way there is a politician ready to screw things up. For example the Dutch model, in Holland euthanasia has been legal for some time and it has become such common place that now people who choose not to die are the odd ones out and thanks to the government there is only enough bed space for about 10% of that group.
And if that wasn't bad enough the government also introduced non-voluntary euthanasia and surprise surprise of all the patients who have been killed, 37% were without an explicit request. The government has to much power which they focus on there own agendas.
