NARRATOR: "Isis ended up heading down the Nile trying to find Osiris and came across many people who said they had seen a beautiful chest floating down the river but didn't know where it had ended up.

Isis kept walking and ended up in the kingdom of Byblos, a city she had heard much about as there was a magnificent tree that grew there. This tree was no ordinary tree, this tree was a tall and graceful tree that had sprung to life that night aided by the magic of Osiris's body, for which his coffin rest against. The king of Byblos had heard of this beautiful tree and ordered for it to be chopped down and made into a pillar, little did the carpenters know that the coffin of a god was inside the trunk. When Isis learnt of this discovery, she rushed to palace of Byblos and sat down by the fountain outside the gates. When one of the maids came out to draw water she noticed Isis and asked who she was. The goddess simply told her that she was an Egyptian and a skilled hairdresser.

The maids told their mistress, Queen Athenais, about the Egyptian woman at the fountain and Isis was sent for. The goddess plaited the Queen's hair and Athenais was so happy that she asked Isis to stay in the palace. The queen came to like and trust Isis and was made nurse to the youngest of the two princes of Byblos. Every night when the palace slept, Isis crept into the room with the pillar that held her husband's coffin and wept over him.

In the daytime she looked after the baby prince. Isis grew very fond of the baby and decided to make him immortal. one night she took him into the room where the pillar stood and kindled a fire. She whispered spells over it and laid the sleeping baby in the flames. The queen who was sleeping in the next room woke to sound of crackling flames and went to trace the noise. She opened the door to the pillar room and screamed in horror as she saw her child burning. Isis told the terrified queen who she was and warned her that the little prince would never now be immortal.

Athenais wept at her mistake and asked how she could serve the goddess. Isis asked for the pillar and took it from the palace grounds. Isis then made her way back across the river and headed down stream on a boat given to her by the queen and sailed back to the Egyptian coast. Isis had the coffin taken off the boat and she took it to a secluded place. She then unsealed the lid. The body of Osiris looked as if he was merely sleeping and Isis embraced it lovingly, sobbing wildly in her uncontrollable grief.

The coffin was closed again and Isis journeyed south through the marshes of Lower Egypt. SCENE 4: That night Isis falls asleep unaware that her brother Seth was just around the river's bend searching for the body of Osiris. Seth eventually finds him and whilst Isis is sleeping he cuts up Osiris's body into tiny little pieces and scatters them around Egypt.
