Our Children And Our Future example essay topic
That raise is almost two-thirds of our whole education budget. Not to mention that this year education got only a 2.8 percent raise when last year it was given 15.9 percent more and has gotten and average raise of 13 percent for the past five years. Our government spouts to us things like: "Our children are our future" and "Be cool stay in school". Then they start new programs like No Child Left Behind, but by cutting our funding below our needs the government is leaving us all behind. It's saying we don't care about our future and we sure as hell don't care about yours. By reading the country's budget report, the only thing the government really does care about seems to be our defense.
Which I agree is a good and commendable thing, but it doesn't seem so good and commendable at a price of 330 billion dollars. Especially when almost half of that goes to buying and repairing weapons, that's 150 billion dollars a year to stock our arsenal, that's also a 150 billion dollars that could rebuild our failing education system. The sad thing is that I haven't even named half of the cuts that have been made for our upcoming year in the Education Department. What we need is to look into the bright future of our children instead of searching our world for our enemies.
We should all have a common goal, not scatter of numerous and varied issues. What better goal is there than to help our children and save our future? A future is something that everyone has, so coming together to alter it's present course is an attainable goal. What are more important than our children? How could any one look into the eyes of a little child playing scientist with a chemistry set, or a girl that dreams of being a doctor?
How can anyone look into their eyes and tell an innocent child, "No you won't be a doctor, because President Bush says killing people is more important". Instead we hide behind the children's innocence and ignorance of the world and say "Of course you " ll be a be a scientist". Well I say it is time to stop hiding, I think we should all come out from behind our walls of denial and take and stand for our children and our future. When we take a stand we will have realized our ultimate destiny. By putting our money into our future it's never wasted, by buying education we buy knowledge, and knowledge is power. With more knowledge our world won't seem so foreign, with more knowledge we can find cures for diseases that plague our world right now and diseases that will plague us in the future.
With more knowledge, we could provide a clean and portable energy source. We could transform our world to the way it once was, clean and beautiful. We can make a place where our children won't even remember hate, discrimination, or hunger. Our children might even travel to a distant star, if not them maybe our children's children. Who knows the limit when we take off the weight inhibition and throw it to ground. We will definitely say that the sky is not the limit anymore.
Can we gamble with our children's futures any longer or are the risks too great? In gambling, sometimes you win and mostly you lose, our future is not something worth gambling with. We can not afford to lose our futures to the government once a future is lost it can never return to it's original dream, because your to old or it's all been done. Dreams are one of the best things a child can have and are twice as good realized. Once Martin Luther King, Jr. said to the whole world, "I have a dream".
Well now I say to all of you and anyone who will listen, I have a dream, I dream that one day soon we will realize that we are sadly mistaken, and we will reorganize our priorities so that our children's futures are the most important thing to us and the future of our world.
