668 words
Logic and perception 1 One of the amazing yet perplexing things about thinking logically and critically is that all of us perceive issues differently and all of us have a unique thinking pattern. The things that we experience also play an important role in how we perceive issues and also our thinking patterns. One believes the nature of logic is how we each deal with a situation and how we decide what the right thing to do is and how we come to certain conclusions about a situation. We all have had experiences in our life that contribute to what we feel is logical or not logical.

My perpetual process has a lot to do with the experiences that I have gone through. For example, if I experience something negative from that point on I will continue to think that and the same goes for a positive experiences. Some blocks that I have is that I, unfortunately was raised to always think of the worst before the best. This is something that I work on and have come far, but in the situation I am about to tell you about had happened you will be able to see this trait in me. At my current workplace we were just starting to do all of our work and correspondence to our client's via-email, since all of our clients were requesting this. So we decided to use it among each other in the office as well.

My boss informed me that there was an email that had been sent to me and it was crucial that I look at it. At this time we were going through staff changes, changes in our descriptions of work and job procedures. When I read the email it was my boss and the owner of the company having a conversation. Most of it was about all the things Logic and perception 3 that were to be changed and at the last part of the conversation, which was italicized said I will take care of Megan. I automatically assumed that I was going to be fired and I went in to my boss's office with a very defensive attitude, not to mention I was really nervous about what was to come. When I asked her what was going on and expressed my concern she chuckled a little bit and apologized saying that she did not mean to alarm me but could see where I would have been nervous and took her comment the wrong way.

Then she proceeded to tell what was really going on which that they wanted to promote me and give me a raise. Of course I was relived and happy to learn of my new job duties. The differences are that in an email it's really tough to decide what someone is really saying. One cannot hear a tone of voice or see the person's gestures. My boss for some reason automatically assumed that I would not perceive her comment as negative one.

So we did decide that although we are working with email daily, it's not wise to write something of such importance in an email, it should always be done in person. Again this goes to show all of our thinking patterns and logic are perceived differently. I learned that things are not always as they seem. My critical thinking process changed because I learned that I need to ask questions and not jump to conclusions especially when it comes to working with email it's difficult to sometimes comprehend what is going on and another factor is that when reading and email it is hard because we are not able to hear a tone of voice or see a persons body language. If I would have heard my boss say she would talk with me then maybe I would not have been so nervous.
