I used to be a kid who liked to go out to be young and stupid live for the now.

I feel that Lord Byron understands the concept of living for a good time all though I don? t agree with his sexual lifestyle. I have known of Lord Byron's works for sometime and have enjoyed them; I also enjoy knowing about the life behind his stories. Lord Byron starts out the poem giving the reader a background of partying to assume, with the below stanza: So, we? ll go no more a roving So late into the night, Though the heart be still as loving, And the moon be still as bright. The stanza is straightforward, the? roving? of then is the partying and clubbing of today. Byron refers to the heart as? still as loving? meaning the night out was fun. The fun night didn? t make the heart forget, but instead, enhanced or maintained the love.

Byron makes the reader aware that the night was good and that ending it isn? t a problem because the moon is bright and the heart still loves. The next stanza talks about resting after partying: For the sword outwears its sheath, And the soul outwears the breast, And the heart must pause to breathe, And love itself have rest. The? sword? is a phallic symbol in this context and the? sheath? is a female symbol, so he is saying sex is tiring. The? heart? is the symbol of physical rest.

Byron finishes the stanza telling how love must rest. Love: the thinking, the desiring, and the passion must rest. I agree with Byron, rest is essential to maintain freshness in love. Rest is necessary for the? sword.?

No one can party forever but with rest one can always party (love) the next night. The final stanza is gives this poem a feeling of closure and finality. It makes the clear distinction that we will go no more a roving, tonight. It still leaves the tomorrow evening open for roving. Though the night was made for loving, And the day returns too soon, Yet we? ll go no more a roving By the light of the moon.

Byron makes the final stanza reflect the first one; he once again says, ? we? ll go no more a roving.? I do not feel that ending the night upset Byron; I feel that he had all the fun he could for one night and that he was sleepy. Byron is happy; to end another night with the knowledge that one will occur tomorrow.
