Peaceful Resolution To The War In Iraq example essay topic
The bottom line is our leaders think that we are superior; that we can do what we feel is necessary no matter what world opinion might be. This is why we are in Iraq, because we feel that Iraq's oil should be ours. This has become very apparent as of recent days. Today Tony Blair came out to say that the UN must start the oil for food program again. How ignorant!! Our superiority thinking led us to abandon the UN council, the world laws, and world peace.
This is the same foundation that we have destructed by not adhering to, we now say they must help us to pay for our brutality to not the "Iraqi Regime" but the Iraqi people. So this has been our strategy? To not give peace a chance, to invade Iraq making sure that the oil fields were preserved (our number one objective), deploy over 1,500 bombs a night on Iraqi soil, kill innocent people with collateral damage, destroy food and water supply of the Iraqi people as well as homes and businesses, and then we insist that they pay for the damage with a precious commodity that we feel we lack. And this war strategy that we have come to know as Iraqi freedom is portrayed by our leaders as one of the greatest strategies of all time.
Oh how ignorant we are. The reason that this unjust war is going to drag on past the whole week many Americans were proposing is because of our past actions. America's perception that the war would take such little time is because many think war is a video game played on a screen, and all video games can be beaten in less then a week. But what happens when we get to Baghdad? We might actually have to put American lives in harms way just as the Iraqi's have to throughout the war. We won't be able to just call in air strikes whenever we see a threat as for the most part we are doing now.
It will be hand to hand combat, just as in Vietnam, and though that was before my time, from my education I am led to believe that our arrogance led us to believe that we could win that war just as we can win this war. Though we will probably win this war just because our army is so much larger, technology will not play as an important role in the massacre that is waiting to happen in Baghdad. We have different countries lending aid to the Iraqi Regime because of our past showing the world just how conceited we are. Many countries will help Iraq, especially small countries that feel threatened by the United States and rightly so. Russia and Syria have already lent aid, and Pakistan is thought to be helping as well. Both Pakistan and Syria believe they are next in the dim-witted American foreign policy, the expansion to colonize countries with different beliefs then the United States.
All of this aid will lengthen the war, and lastly, having all of these countries getting involved in the war will make this war grow larger, larger in scale then the Commander and Chief ever envisioned. Here is a thought, maybe when the way of thinking of leaders of this great democracy start to take their actions into account, other leaders feelings, and the feelings of the citizens that elected the true president, then maybe we can take a step closer to Martin Luther King Jr.'s dream. Until then we are taking steps backwards, turning on our own citizens, I am sick of having classmates miss the educational experience that they are paying for because they have to be interviewed by the government to determine if they are a threat. This is preposterous, and needs to stop. The next time a nation proposes a peaceful resolution to the war in Iraq, lets not just blow them off without listening to them, lets show the world we care about someone other then ourselves, lets let our ego shrink, and lets work for world peace, not American expansion..
