Poem The Author example essay topic

Poem Analysis In Lake Isle of Innisfree, the author becomes inspired to write the poem while walking down a street. The sound of a water fountain captures his attention, and he begins to drift of in a daydream. In this poem the author uses many literary devices to show that this is a place that he would much rather be. In the poem he describes this location (where he has been in the past) by using a lot of imagery, so that his point can reach the reader. He starts by writing "And a small cabin build there, of clay and wattles made", which gives the idea that Innisfree is probably in the countryside. Another description he gives is that this place is calm, peaceful, and lonely because he says "And live alone in the bee-loud glade".

Later in the poem, he remembers the fog in the morning, but instead he uses a metaphor that says, "Peace comes dropping slow, dropping from the veils of the morning". One last example of imagery is when it becomes nightfall, and he saying, "Crickets sing, midnight's glimmer, water lapping". In the last stanza he goes back to the streets after thinking of the country and says, "While I stand on the roadway, or on the pavement gray". In that line he makes a transition from dream to reality, and from beautiful Innisfree to the dirt gray streets. After my reading of the poem I think there was a meaning behind it. A person can dream of a place that he would rather be, but remember that you always come to reality and keep on walking.
