Both "The Beggar Woman" and "I Wanna Be Yours" have a great deal to say on human relationships, both Compare and contrast at least two poems from the Hearts and Partner's section, exploring what they both have to say on human relationships showing off the vulnerability of people when they are in love and sometimes the lust. In the following essay I will explore the content, language and structure, comparing them and contrasting them. Firstly, both poems use vulnerability. "The Beggar Woman" heavily relies on the vulnerability where a hunter is used to display vulnerability here as he sees a beggar woman that looks vulnerable, but she in fact quite the opposite, and he is the most vulnerable one as the hunter finds out when he is left with the "burden placed upon his shoulders."I Wanna Be Yours" also uses much vulnerability as the person completely puts himself in the other person's hands, making the devoted person completely vulnerable and absolutely open to whatever the other person might 'have in store' for the other person. The other element that both the poems discuss is control. In "The Beggar Woman" the hunter thinks that he is in control, but the beggar woman is actually in control from the very start.

This is in comparison to "I Wanna Be Yours" as the person lays himself open to attack from the other person by giving the person complete control. However, "The Beggar Woman" displays other elements within human relationships. It shows that it is not a true relationship between the two people, as all that the hunter is interested in is 'having a good time', and the beggar woman is only interested in 'disposing' of the "burden upon her back". Whereas "I Wanna Be Yours" depicts the desperation and the devotion and the fact that he will do anything for the other person to be accepted again. The language of both poems differ in their contributions towards human relationships. What little language there is in "The Beggar Woman" shows the hierarchy of the hunter making him a possible aristocrat compared with the lower working class of the beggar woman as she is on the side of the road looking for work and looking susceptible to attack which is possibly why the hunter thought that he was in control.

However, this is in opposition to "I Wanna Be Yours" as the language in this is used to emphasise the "deep, deep, deep" devotion of the person and just what lengths the person will go to, to "wanna" be admitted entry back into the person's life again. The structure of both poems also differ from each other in their involvement towards human relationships, as in "The Beggar Woman" the first stanza is devoted to present the supposedly defenceless beggar woman. The second stanza of the poem gives some indication that the roles of the two 'lovers' is about to invert, as the beggar woman starts making excuses to the hunter, when in the third stanza the inversion of roles takes place, as the beggar woman comes out of her false shell and starts to do what she is best at as she with "dextro us motion winds" the cloth into a tight knot on the hunter's back until the last stanza where the overall control of the woman is known and arrogance is brought to the positive shell of the hunter. This is also unlike "I Wanna Be Yours" as the first stanza is in the form of a plea as there is very little sign of desperation, but this changes in the second stanza, as the plea turns more into a sort of desperation as at the end of the stanza the person says in hope "i don't care, i wanna be yours". By the end of the last stanza the desperation then turns into a supreme devotion towards the other person as a last resort. To conclude, I would say that both of these poems shows us a large amount about relationships between people and to try and make you realise that people are not always what they appear to be.
