I have learned that war is an ugly thing. Sometimes it must be done, but it destroys many lives. America is always the crutch for everybody else. As a nation we make many poor decisions, but at the same time we make many wise decisions.

The Treaty of Versailles was a poor decision, because it left many European countries in hovels and made them angry at us. I believe we should have entered World War ll earlier, because I believe the Holocaust wouldnt have happened, or wouldnt have been as severe. But going to war pulled us out of Depression and boosted our economy, and rid our world of evil powers. Our nation is always in many dilemmas, and we are forced to weigh possibilities of our actions, and in turn face the consequences of those actions.

Bombing Hiroshima and Nagasaki was seen as a very poor choice. True, it did have side effects because of the radiation, but we gave Japan many warnings. It is also true that innocent civilians perished, but again, leaflets were distributed telling civilians to leave the cities. President Truman was left with a huge dilemma, and I believe he made the right choice.

Our soldiers were in a terrible situation, and it was seen as one of the easiest and less excruciating, if we bombed major parts of Japan. In the end, Japan surrendered and America won World War ll. The Japanese were givin a choice, and they decided to choose the hard way out. The Japanese were horrible and ruthless fighters. They went into small towns and burned buildings, raped women and children, and slaughtered many innocent people. They were ruthless against our troops as well, and they deserved what happened in the end.

America goes through many troubles, but in the end they always come through.
