Pop Feminism example essay topic
This is the purpose of my essay, to prove that society has changed for women... women have not changed for society. And that this feminism thing is a load of crap. Women of today have not fought for anything, they have simply protested their demands and expected society to cater to them. This will continue to be true for as long as society takes sympathy upon women and their "needs". For some reason feminism became an international phenomenon. Women everywhere wanted to be independent, they were usually offended if a man tried to help them do something.
Soon after this international phenomenon swept the world, a new type of feminism, called "pop- feminism", came to be. Now, understand that the only difference between the former and the latter is that feminism is just that... feminism. Feminism is the belief that women should be equal and deserve the same respect as everyone else. And to tell you the truth, I don't have a problem with that. I have a problem with pop-feminism. Pop-feminism is simply anti-male hype, and it is a joke.
No pop-feminist should be taken seriously. Do not get me wrong or anything, but pop-feminists distort facts on serious issues, take credit for stuff they did not do, and jump on the " liberated women" band wagon. In other words, they make a joke out of what women stand for. Basically, pop-feminists think that they are doing women a favor by standing up for anything and everything that comes along. But, they need to come to terms with reality. They are ruining everything women have fought for in the last century.
And, as a matter of fact, they are most likely the only reason most women do not get taken seriously. Look at the history here, during the past hundred years, women have experienced several remarkable changes in their lifestyles. Many of these changes are due, in large part, to the acts of several different women. These women fought for many important things, such as; the right to vote, equality, and pay wages in the work place. We call these women pioneers. Unfortunately, in the past decade, everything that these women fought for has been thrown away.
The women of today are responsible for this waste of effort. The women of today claim to be intone with the pioneers of women's rights, however, that's not really the way it is. Women of today want things handed to them, they just sit back and expect everything. It's ironic how much women fought for, just to have it swept away by a bunch of babbling bimbos from the 80's and 90's.
Actually, it's not even ironic... it's just plain sad. Susan B. Anthony was thrown in jail trying to earn the right to vote, but now, , women just hop in line to vote, taking everything for granted. Susan B. Anthony would be furious if she saw what women are doing today. You know, the thing about it is, women only appreciate this right, when it is brought to their attention... Lucy Stone was another pioneer of women's rights, and I don't think she would approve of what women do with their rights.
It is because of women like Lucy Stone and Susan B., that women are allowed to do what they do today. Without the pioneers of women's rights, women would still be regarded as servants, or as inferior beings. I kind of feel sorry for what women of yesterday had to go through, and coming from me, that means women had it rough. Women were subject to discrimination in the work place, they couldn't vote and on top of all this, they were expected to do manly types of work. I guess it's good to see women working today, even though, they take it all for granted, it's still good to see. I'm a firm believer in equal right's for those willing to earn their rights.
That's pretty much what women today need to learn. They should understand that something shouldn't just be handed to you, they should be aware of what their ancestor had to deal with, so that they could live the life that they live. But do they feminists of today thank their ancestors everyday No. Do you ever hear the pop-feminists talk about what Susan Anthony went through No, you only hear about their precious needs and desires. I have news for them...
I don't care and quite frankly, I'm sick of hearing about it.
