Poverty And Injustice example essay topic

302 words
Poverty and injustice are often connected to each other because both are important issues that need to be redressed in our world today. Poverty may be a root cause of social injustice because it shows inequality. Those who are poor deserve freedom from poverty and equality of opportunity. But because others discriminate the less privileged, because of what they look like or how they act, they are more than often not given a chance to change their current status. Actually, it is not only discrimination but also selfishness shown by the privileged. Both are social injustices toward the poor.

Poverty then should be considered a case of social injustice. It would be nice if everyone would just help one other and not mind what the other person's religion, race, culture, or social standing is. But this is the real world, and we can only do so much. It looks like charity isn't doing much too. Poverty is still rampant even if there are many organizations working on it. To end not just poverty, but also hunger and social injustice, a movement of concerned students, teachers, members of communities, and faith groups should be made.

If we cannot establish agencies to help the poor, we should fundraiser and contribute things to them for them to improve the lives of the less privileged. We should advocate changing the structures that keep people in poverty. These are easy ways that I think could help a lot. Another way is to shop wisely.

We should buy from socially responsible companies and also consume only what we need. Lastly, so others may also be concerned, we should teach them about the causes of and solutions to poverty and social injustice.
