It is a commonly shared view that prehistoric man was an inferior creature. Many fail to see that "he" is not that different from where we stand as a human race today. We like to think that we are so above him and remove himself from him, we have disconnected ourselves from this earlier form of us. Although prehistoric man laid the foundation for himself and the human race there are still misconceptions of him and he is looked down upon.

Instead of focusing on his shortcomings and areas that needed improvements his accomplishments will be looked at. With him our development of tools was begun, along with culture, and even our very body structure. Without him we might not be standing here today. Prehistoric man's successes in tool making have helped to get us where modern technology is today. Amoung the earliest form of man there was definite tool use, even the apes used tools. This shows that we had to start somewhere.

Then it became known that Homo habilis was actually able to make his own tools. This is a huge improvement and shows that our intelligence was growing along with our capabilities. He is more able to use the things around him to his advantage. When tools that weren't just made for dealing with our food supply we were able to make farther advancements in our tools that revolutionized the way of life.

Bone needles started better clothing and the more sophisticated use of fire helped us to tame our nomadic ways. The many different tools that came about enabled us to do a lot more and was also a reflection of our growing, evolving intelligence. Our "tool use" is so extensive today that our way of life is dependent upon our technology. From a bone tool to a spaceship shows the significant gains each form of man has contributed to make this possible. When we look around at our "human culture" today we can see where all of it came from in prehistoric man. The changes that were made in our way of obtaining food has changed the way we live.

Prehistoric man started off as a hunter and gatherer, then because of the advancements made in hunting and shelter, culture was able to flourish. Burial rituals were evident and later they were buried with an assortment of weapons and jewelry. This shows they became much more affectionate and might of believed in a rebirth much like their earthly existence. This shows some similarities with our beliefs today. Prehistoric man was just as caring and human like as any of us today. More of the social structure was also started.

A basic form of tribal government and statuses were apparent. Certain Cro-Magnon's were buried with ivory daggers, amber beads and other signs of high rank. Government and our place in society is also an important factor in our lives today. The earliest forms of art was also created by prehistoric man. Many pictures of animals have been found in caves, many of them traced over. He could have been leaving of some history of acting on some of his superstitious beliefs.

Either way this is a very interesting act by him. This shows that creativity, amoung other things began to sprout. Many people today spend their lives expressing themselves this way. Culture is something that all humans alike are effected by today and prehistoric man set the foundation for what is still done today.
