The Center's staff join with Carter in an attempt to resolve national and international conflict, promote democracy outside the United States, preserve human rights throughout the world, and stop disease and other misfortune. In 1991, President Carter and the Center started the Atlanta Project, or TAP, a community-wide venture to attack the social problems assorted with poverty, suck as teenage pregnancy, kids dropping out of school, juvenile delinquency, crime and violence, homelessness, and unemployment.
