Previous Rebellions Against England example essay topic

For many years the colonists struggled because of their lack of unity. Unity was something that was very crucial for the colonists if they wanted to break away from England. The colonists needed to come together on common ground and unite because it was important for their survival, it would help to fulfill their desire for independence and it would help to support previous rebellions against England. All these things could be solved by coming together to work as one nation against their enemy. As time progressed from the first settlement of the colonies its inhabitants felt the need to govern themselves. They wanted to start new lives and break away from England.

However, each colony wanted to do its own thing and there was no way it would accomplish anything alone as 13 separate colonies. In Document A Benjamin Franklin displays the need for everyone to unite together. The phrase "JOIN, or DIE" clearly stated that if the colonists do not have some kind of union, they will fail and die. A colony alone is more vulnerable than thirteen standing together. Document C shows that the American colonies must be united to protect themselves.

They must ban together to defend their liberties that every power on the Earth will attempt to take away. Many countries will fear and be jealous of America so it must be firm to keep itself strong. Unity was important because it would help to fulfill the desire to be independent. Document H shows that Americans left England not to still be a citizen of England but to become new race and to start over with their lives. Many Americans were willing to do anything to be free and independent. That is the basis for most of the colonists moving to the New World.

In Document D an example was given that it is better to be a Tory than a Whig because the author felt it was better to be ruled by someone many miles away than many people nearby. On the other hand, one of the main reasons people came to America was to find their own identity and govern themselves. To live in a democracy would not necessarily be like living with many tyrants but living with many people who want to be able to decide what is best for them. To become independent, unity was very important because without it England would prevail. The final reason unity was very important was because they needed to continue to support the previous rebellions made against England.

Rebellion without a just cause is inexcusable. In Document B it gives a good reason for the colonists to rebel and break away. It states that it is outlandish to try and govern something thousands of miles away like it is in England's back yard. This shows that the colonists have a decent reason to have their own government.

Pride, ambition, and resentment was to gain from fighting for their independence as it is stated in Document F. The Americans were already humiliated my their homeland and they deserved to be respected. England had already attempted to hurt the Americans by imposing unfair taxes on them and taking away Massachusetts charter. When all this happened the colonies helped each other as shown in Document G. As bad things happened to one colony, others stepped up to help and build up their neighbor. If all the colonies were strong then it would be easier to defeat their foe. As you can see all these documents demonstrate the need for America to unite and come together to succeed to become their own nation.

By the eve of the revolution America was all on the same level, they wanted to defeat England. If they came together then they colonists could have victory and become independent to develop themselves.
