Mitch Hummel PRIDE Pride is mostly thought of as pleasure or satisfaction taken in an achievement. And is a very pleasant and good quality found in people. It is very acceptable and common to show pride in ones work or in another person. But pride is a double edged sword, in the fact that pride is not always positive. Pride can also be thought of as arrogance or smugness.

Self-importance is an interchangeable word for pride, and is looked down on among most people. Pride, in the positive sense, I believe is a lost quality among the general population and is not expressed as often as it should be. However pride, in the negative sense, is very apparent and very observable quality in today's society. It is very easy to walk down the street and sort of pick out the people who think very highly of themselves. You can pretty much tell just from body language how much pride one has in themselves.

I think having some pride in oneself is good because I believe it to be somewhat of a motivator. But I do believe there is a certain line and some people do cross this line and these people are thought of as being "cocky". I don't know to call pride a good or bad quality because it is all in the sense of how it is used and shown. But how it is used and shown will all depend upon the persons character who is showing pride and there will always be two ways to look at the quality of pride.
