Problem Of Homelessness In Toronto example essay topic
An important issue for the homeless is security of the few belongings that they own, which is why many fear going to these shelters. If the government invested more money and provided more volunteers that could guarantee security of their belongings, then many more homeless people would not fear coming to these shelters. The churches in the community should also help those who have no food and shelter, since they preach the importance of helping those in need and suffering. The churches too have recognized the problem of homelessness, and have done charitable works such as food and clothing drives in order to help those who are less fortunate. In addition to these drives, the churches should offer programs where the homeless can come in and have sessions in which they get help for alcohol and drug abuse, as well as other problems that they may have. These programs will provide hope for those living on the streets and will possibly motivate them to live better lives in the future.
Some individuals in our society complain about having too many homeless on the streets, however, the reason for the large number of homeless people is the lack of volunteers in the shelters and programs that are designed to help get these people off the streets. People should feel more motivated to help their society and have a greater sense of responsibility for what goes on in the city. Although many individuals do take time out of their busy schedules to volunteer and make a difference, there are those individuals who can't be bothered or don't have enough time to help. People should be more inspired to help their neighbours and help solve the problem of homelessness in Toronto. Homelessness may be a big problem currently, however, with the help of the government, churches, and individuals, this problem can be solved. Society should come together and do something about the homeless, instead of being scared or not caring, in order to make the community a better living environment.
