There are different parts to cheerleading just like other sports. You must practice jumps, dances, cheers, motions, and stunts, which require the most time. Cheerleaders who stunt not only spend time perfecting the stunt but also working out to gain muscle. Unlike most athletes, cheerleaders are stereotyped as cute airheads. To live up to all this hype, cheerleaders always have to put time into their hair and make up before any performance. Similar to other athletes, Cheerleaders must maintain a certain GPA to be eligible to participate which requires time into their homework. Not only is time an important factor for cheerleading, but also dedication. Unlike other sports, cheerleading requires preparation for games by not only practicing, but by getting the fans fired up about the upcoming event. Cheerleaders are not only encouraging for the team by cheering them on and getting fans involved at the game, but also by pumping them up before the game. After putting hours into practice, cheerleaders do not get to go home and rest like other athletes. They stay to paint the run thru for the football team or make posters to hang for fans to see. Pep Rallies are held to get everyone excited about the game. Regardless of the kind of day a cheerleader has had, they are continuously responsible for changing their attitude to be pepped up and positive for the players which definitely takes dedication.

Cheerleaders never get treat bags for good luck but are always the people who make them for others. This requires them to be willing to spend their money on the players and take the time to get the treat bag to them before the upcoming game. Although the team might have had a losing season, the cheerleaders are still encouraging and always supportive of the team. Cheerleaders are always dedicated to giving up things themselves to do things for the players. With the time and dedication required by cheerleading, it is easily compared to other sports. The only noticeable difference is that cheerleaders are not often praised for the victory but their significance to the game is tremendous.
