Psycho's in our mists When people think about psychopaths they envision a person that is scary and evil to look at. They think of someone like Norman Bates or Hannibal Lector. In all reality most psychopathic personalities are never discovered. According to Dr. Robert D. Hare a psychopath is, "a social predator who charm, manipulate, and ruthlessly plow their way through life, leaving a broad trail of broken hearts, shattered expectations, and empty wallets".

They are people who lack a conscious and will do anything to get ahead. Another misconception about psychopaths is that they are all murderers. They can be burghers, con artists, abusers, or the head of a large corporation. They are very driven, controlling, and uncaring. They do not feel that the rules of society apply to them.

They tend to exhibit a superiority complex. They sometimes go so far as to belive that they are god's right hand and can do no wrong. Psychopaths do not like other psychopaths. They feel that they are truly individual and do not enjoy sharing the spot light with others.

They will however form alliances with others if it suits their needs. If their minds eye sees it as a profitable joining then they will work in teams to create more devastating results. Whether they want to climb to the top of the business world or into the media's focus they only care about themselves, and can often be so brazen that they leave huge clues believing that they are too smart to actually be caught. In the case of Ted Bundy he was caught only to escape by requesting blue prints to the prison under the name of Captain Theodore Bundy. They are often quite intelligent and will manipulate others with little or no remorse. There are white collar psychopaths who's only desire is money and power.

They are the con artist who steal millions from corporations and government, or the Don Juan's who con women and the elderly out of their life savings. They They will use andy angle that they cam to get what they want. They will convince people that they are pharmacists, doctors, or surgeons. They assume the roles prescribing medication, or even doing surgeries. There are few textbook cases of psychopathic personalities.

There is also no sure fire cure for this disorder. Some say that a person can be born with this illness or that they become so because of the environment in which they were raised. Pyschopaths are not crazy as many would believe. They are cold, sadistic people who do not recognize such things as feeling and emotion. They know what they are doing, they simply do not care. They are not really interesting or suspenseful as Hollywood portrays.

They can be by outward appearances a friend, neighbor, or family member. It is still a mistery how or why the psychopathic mind develops. They are fairly common in society and often are never caught. They are the business men that are capable of reaching the top no matter the cost, the man down the street who's family tends to be accident prone and bruised, or the women who manipulates the system to pay for her drugs, clothes and food. They can also be the person who everybody likes but no one suspects.
