The Correctional Service contributes to the protection of society by actively encouraging and assisting offenders to become law-abiding citizens. For the last several years, the Correctional Service of Canada has been involved in a review process to ensure that its programs are designed to maximize effectiveness and that they keep the latest treatment techniques up to date for each program area.

From the one mistake this boy committed, he spent a lot of his life in jail, in Solitary Confinement. There was no windows or light, minimal food, a lot of abuse, and loneliness. This movie is a good example of what would never happen in Canada. Prison is still a punishment for committing crimes, but there is no death penalties or solitary confinement like there was in those days. This is a good example of how Canada's Correctional System is working, in providing people with opportunities to forget what they have done wrong in the past with rehabilitation steps to help prepare them for the real world.
