The public sphere is just another form of dominant ideology or hegemony. The public body being the main form of the public sphere and how its dominant ideas form this public sphere is very close to the idea of ideology being a veil of illusion pulled over the eyes of the average person blinding them from the real truth of society. Being part of ideology feels normal to everyone just as everyone is part of the public sphere. Hegemony is the relationship between base and superstructure. In order to understand society you have to take all of its actions into account, and all of these actions add up to being the public sphere. A universal and rational explanation is what the public sphere does to pull the veil of ideology over our eyes in hopes to blind us from having our own opinions and thoughts about certain subjects.

The base of ideology is the foundation of a social relationship between people. The public sphere is also an idea that is trying to form a connection between the public and private so that one common good can be discovered. Ideology has one group which is responsible for pulling the veil over the eyes of everyone else. This class is called the ruling class. Although the public sphere is not ruled by one class, one class does make up most or all of the laws and they are the political public sphere. This one public body that provides moral guidelines and behaviors for both public and private spheres.

These characteristics are some that ideology and the public sphere have in common. Ideology consumes everybody and how they think and react to certain situations because it is all they know and have been part of their entire life. They have been demystified, only experiencing ideology and what it has to offer. Ideology is dependant on your social being and how you see things in your world. The knowledge that you have determines what you make out of the "truth" that you know and how it applies to yourself and the world.

Being part of the public sphere only happens when you want it to although there may be instances where you can not avoid it. Every person on the earth is or has been part of the public sphere. In the public sphere you get to tell everyone how you feel about your view of the world and what it has to offer. People may try to convince you that their view of the world is the right one and that can either influence you or make you more sure that you have the correct view of the world.

Dominant ideology and the public sphere share many characteristics about how information is passed along between people. No one knows that they are a part of ideology. They only know that they are in ideology when someone tells them or they dig deeper trying to find the real truth behind the veil. Just like in The Truman Show, Truman (Jim Carrey) had no idea that he was in a fake world until he started investigating and was given hints by cast members and people who snuck on the show. His idea of reality was shaken when he learned that he had been watched for his whole life and that all of his friends and family were just actors playing a part. Truman was in a public sphere because he discussed his ideas about what he knew with multiple people and groups over his lifetime.

The public sphere that he was involved in was very small compared to that of the entire world. You may not know that you are a part of ideology and the masking of the truth that it does, but you know that you are part of the public sphere because you must take part in the discussion to be a part of it. Hegemony trying to form a relationship between the base and the superstructure is related to the public sphere when they are looking for a common good for all people. The relationship between the base and superstructure is interesting because the base needs to hold up the superstructure otherwise the superstructure would fall but if there is no superstructure the base would collapse by itself.

Society by itself is just a bunch of people, but when they start to have ideas then the structure for society comes in and how they are going to rule themselves. The ideas of a society tend to be brought out in the public sphere whenever or wherever that might be. Understanding society requires you to understand all of its actions and why it does them. The idea that people are contradictory in what they do, that they do not always do the same thing twice or keep one set of values may confuse someone trying to look in on society and study its actions.

Without the public sphere the relationship between the base and the superstructure would crumble. Ideas are ways of organizing the world. Through ideology and the public sphere, both have ideas and both have the world in mind. The ability to look through these ideas is what has plagued people in ideology for a long time. This is where people who are in ideology for a public sphere and try to make the veil transparent so they can see through it to the truth behind the curtain.

With their will to find the truth they can have the power necessary to do away with the veil and no longer be in ideology. This new found power allows them to be part of the ruling class and decide what they want to find out and what truths they want to hear. Then this new society gets to decide how they want to be governed and what they will believe. All of this comes from the combination of a group of people in ideology forming a public sphere. Ideology and hegemony are being used by the media in its attempt to be very persuasive. This idea that they can tell people that they have to believe in what they believe.

This idea is spread through the public sphere by people wanting to be part of the media and think that the media is always right. The universal public sphere spreads the ideology of the media through group discussions and massive conferences and over mass media formats like TV, Radio, and Film. With the media scattering all of its ideology through the public sphere, and using the combination of the two to be even more powerful then they should be, shows that when these two forces combine that is can be a very powerful force in influencing the world by pulling a veil of their beliefs over the worlds eyes. Is the public sphere a part of dominant ideology?

Yes, because its similarities are very convincing. The idea that the base of ideology is the social relationship between people, shows the connection right there because in order to have a social relationship people have to be part of a public sphere. There is one dominant class for both the public sphere and ideology. The public sphere is dominated by the political public sphere and its rule making citizens. Ideology is run by people trying to blind us from what we may not want to know but still have the right to know.

Everyone is consumed by ideology and its rule over how we see country and world communicate and work. At one point in everybody's life they are part of a public sphere, whether it is deliberate or by accident. It is a need for every person to explain their feelings about a situation. When Truman found out that his world was false he had to be told by an outsider or someone that was pulling the veil over his eyes.

He did not know, and when the only world he knew crumbled his life and the public sphere had to change. When either ideology or the public sphere changes the other one has to change with it. The relationship of the base and superstructure, without one the other will crumble, ideology and the public sphere are dependant on this fact. These two concepts are dependant on each other, if you didn't have the public sphere no one would ever know they were part of ideology and without ideology the public sphere would not be necessary because all the truth of the world would be out there and there would be nothing to discuss in groups.
