Punk Rock Music example essay topic

What does punk-rock taste like? Normally clean vocals that are easily understood, and etched into your skull because of their carefree wording. Drums that beat down in a melodic way, keeping everything bright and powerful. The guitar screams, but walks through the melody cautiously on other parts. The bass slaps its way through the song as well, giving the song some meat to chew on. For many people they shrug off the idea of listening to punk-rock mainly because it is different than other forms of popular music.

These people often form bias opinions towards punk-rock before ever enjoying the experience themselves. However, the reasons why my friends and I enjoy punk-rock music, specifically the band Blindside, are deeper than just the outward sounds of their melodies. We appreciate punk-rock music because it is a form of support during difficult times, the music inspires us, and gives us an energetic outlet. Blindsides' lyrics are somewhat different than other punk-rock bands, whereas, Blindside incorporates Christian theology into most of their songs, this is the main way that I find comfort in their music. The lyrics, "And I know You " re alive; And I'll give my heart to survive; This world has nothing to offer a human soul", from the song "Midnight" were exceptionally helpful about a year ago, when I faced the reality of my best friend Julie's serious state of depression. During this time, Julie began to doubt her faith and would occasionally slip into psychotic fits of suicide.

Listening to Blindsides' records helped Julie on some level deal with what was going on in her life, and also helped me gain enough confidence to be a strong supporter. It almost became a ritual for us, when we needed encouragement we just popped in Blindsides' compact disk and for those three to four minutes we felt as if we were not the only people encountering struggles in our lives. It was a type of relief, a breath of fresh air. Finally, after almost seven months of intensive therapy and all sorts of anti-depressants, and Blindside, Julie began to fully recover from her depression. Her family thanked God for the new medicine that this decade has created, but we thanked God for giving Blindside the talent that enabled them to create inspirational melodies.

Their infectious music contained a powerful force and drive that not only possessed a support system, but also an inspirational pull. "I know I was made to go up this mountain; But I'm getting scared of heights; Still I'll sleep to the sound of the monsters roar; Cause I'll sleep next to your heartbeat forever", this is an excerpt from the song "The Endings", the song mainly explains how this particular person knows that whatever his "calling" maybe, he knows that God will always stand up beside him. This song is exceptionally dear to me. It is this song that triggered my passion for life, and inspired my creativity. After hearing this song, I was compelled to write myself.

It started out as a rocky journey, and at first I considered giving up, but I stuck to it, and now I am much better. As a matter of fact, I recently won second place for my poem High School. The feeling of success is a difficult emotion to put into words, but knowing that maybe one day another person could look at my writings and songs that I created and become moved helps me to believe that I will impact the world significantly, just as Blindside is inspirational for me. Blindside has been influential in keeping my determination alive, by constantly adding more fuel for my originality and my ambitions, however, they have also helped me to retain an outlet for my energy. Just by witnessing a heart felt punk-rock performance, either by a local band or a distinguished one, exerts a profound level of energy and excitement.

Not only do you feel the music rattling your insides, and you enjoy the tasteless food at the concession stands but you can relate on a personal level with the people that attend these shows. I have gone to many Blindside shows, and one thing never changes and that is how friendly the people are that attend the shows. There is no judging, but a sense of being welcomed and accepted for all similarities and differences. The exhilaration that is felt through the perfomance of the songs, either at their concerts or at home, creates a scramble.

A scramble to get out of your chair and turn the living room into a dance floor. In fact, I have created numerous dance parties myself by simply clearing out the living room, blasting the music, and calling countless friends to come dance their hearts out. Theses dance parties ensure that everyone maintains a close relationship within our group, as well as having a fun, safe and calorie burning dance session. Punk-rock music is not just entertainment, but a lifestyle as well, because it incorporates all aspects of life. The enjoyment felt and the satisfaction that arrives from the lyrics and melodies presents an up roar of atomic and countless emotions. Although many people may bash punk-rock music without truly listening to the words and appreciating the works of the artists in the field, the people that value what the music offers are greatly blessed..
