Nature of professional work carried out Code of Training area I had to prepare an estimate for the 'Site Development Works' to the Garda district HQ. In Trim, Co. Meath. There is extensive excavation inclusive of an existing retaining wall; this is to provide a larger car parking facility. There is underpinning of an existing retaining wall to the rear of the site. An additional retaining wall is to be constructed immediately in front of the existing retaining wall and extended around to the side of the site.

A new ancillary building is included in the estimate as well as extensive site works ie. Paving, fencing, new entrance etc. Having worked on the quantities for site works yesterday, I concentrated on the ancillary building today. I worked my way through the elements of the building. Having reached element (27) yesterday I continued today and finished off the quantities to the ancillary building.

I started a cost analysis for an ' Irish Marine Emergency Service' building in How th, Co. Dublin. Tom Dooley gave me a priced bill of quantities and a list of the variations for the job. I had to apply the agreed variations to each of the elements.

The objective was to get a final figure for each of the elements, add them together and come up with a final contract figure. This information would later be used in a cost analysis form, which would provide all I met with Aidan Quinn to discuss the work I had done on the Garda district HQ, Trim, Co. Meath. We went through the various quantities of the job, corrected some of my figures and he showed how he would like me to present my written take off. I attempted pricing the Garda HQ in Trim using a pricing schedule which is kept up to date regularly and available to us in the office. I then discussed this with Aidan.

He made a few amendments and a final figure was arrived at.
