In the tragedy Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet fall in love despite their long family feud. Since they couldn't be together in life they decided to be together in death. Three main causes lead to their tragic deaths. One significant cause leading to the tragic outcome was the pressure Juliet felt to marry Paris.
Lord Capulet felt that what was best for Juliet was to marry Paris. Of course Lord Capulet didn't know she was already married to Romeo. Juliet strongly didn't want to marry Paris and was determined to resolve a solution, so she went to Friar Lawrence for help. He gave her a special potion that would have her appear dead.
Juliet faking her death led to Romeo killing himself to be with her. Another cause was that Friar John couldn't deliver the letter to Romeo. If the letter would have gotten to him he would have known Juliet's plan and that she wasn't dead. Friar John went to Friar Lawrence and told him, "I could not sent it-here it is again-Nor get a message to bring it thee, So fearful were they of infection", (Act V, Scene II, lines 14-16). He was unable to deliver the letter because of the quarantine on the house Romeo was staying at. The letter never reached Romeo and this caused him to feel like he could not live without Juliet and then resulting in Romeo taking his own life.
Also a cause in the deaths of Romeo and Juliet is their timing. If Romeo had arrived at the tomb later, Juliet would have already been awake. Juliet woke up to late, which caused Romeo to never find out she was still alive. Also the timing of Friar Lawrence was bad. If he had arrived earlier he could have informed Romeo of Juliet's sleeping potion and prevented Romeo from taking his life. All in all, the most crucial cause was the bad timing.
It caused both Romeo and Juliet to die. If their timing would have been synchronized they could have avoided death.
