The beginning of baseball has had it twist on who started the game and who made the rules to the game. The sport we know as baseball was original name stick ball before it became an organized sport. Baseball was a game that many just played as part of their moderate exercise for recreational purpose or time and they used the game to stay in shape. It was usually a middle class white -collar worker who played the game.

Many give credit to Abner Doubleday and his contribution to the game as the father of baseball. But many discredit Doubleday of his work and say that he didn't invent the game. But what most people don't know is that Doubleday actually made the rules to the game we know as baseball. According to the baseball of fame Abner Doubleday was the first to be officially recognized as the creator of baseball. Many had their doubts about the inventor of the game until Doubleday classmate named Abner Graves wrote a letter proclaiming that his friend made the rules to the game we know as baseball.

In the letter he was stated to Spalding that Doubleday made changes to the rules of the local game they called town ball. He told him how a person would toss the ball straight in the air allowing another player to hit the ball with a four-inch flat bat. There would be about 20-50 people playing at one time and everyone would be scattered in the fields trying to catch the ball as the batter was trying to get to the goal fifty feet away. Grave said it was then were Doubleday got a stick and marked out the diamond and put four bases the other rules followed to make the game we know as baseball. Also the ball became known as "The Doubleday Baseball" and remains in the baseball hall of fame today. But a lot of people still don't understand the origin of the game before the Cartwright rules in 1845, as referred to by he baseball hall of fame. The rules of baseball though still received it changes to the games as the years past including Cartwright who made the foul lines and the rule that if the ball is caught flying or on the first bound is out. And the ball was not to be thrown at a player for an out and no base running on fouls.

As the years went by base has had many rules that have been added and taken away to make it a better game to suit everyone regardless of race, sex, or creed. But baseball has and will always been known as created by Abner Doubleday even thought he didn't invent the games but he started the game to were its at today. Baseball was also struck with death of one of the greatest pitchers of all time Christy Matthewson, who many believed to be the best in the game and was honest in all he did. It was said that Mattewson was so great that the President of the United States came half way across the continent to sit at a crucial games.

But in the other article there was a scandal that shocked the people of baseball when the Black Sox threw the game to Cincinnati. When you try to compare the two documents you will see that in Mattewson was a man with no flash, no scandal, no cheap clamor for notoriety. And Jackson was a man that was honest in everything he did. He didn't want to have anything to do with the scandal and he was honest in his playing.

He didn't really want the money that was offered to him, but he was honest and confessed to the whole ordeal. They also said that there was about him no cheap clamor for notoriety and Jackson proved that with his confession. I also believe that Jackson would have never said anything if wouldn't have got his money. I think he was almost forced in a way to say something, because the way thing went down. I believe that Jackson got upset when he didn't get his money that he was promised. Also there were some players as mention who had received their money before the game, so I believe that kind of helped Jackson says something when he did.

But that is my opinion on the whole issue. But according to the document Jackson did confess to everything that he seen and heard. So I guess that is what makes and him and Matthewson an honest person.
