This Story Summer of the Swans takes place in a little town in West Virginia. The most important character in this book is defiantly Sarah Godfrey. So far in half of this book most of the scenes are with her. When she plays with Boysie, in the beginning, Then when she was talking with Wanda, and when she went with Charlie to see the swans.

She is defiantly the most important character in this book. The other characters in this book are Wanda, Charlie, Aunt Willie, Boysie, Frank, and Mary. They all too play a pretty good part in this book. The problem that gets this story going is Charlie wanders off in the night. He wants to see the swans, so in the middle of the night he goes and tries to see them again, but little does he know what is coming. He gets afraid, and he really is unsure of where he is.

He goes down the street and encounters dogs barking, and a forest where on the other side the swans lay in the Lake. In the early morning Aunt Willie, and Sarah can't find him. They searched throughout the house, the backyard, and even where the Swans were when Sarah, and Charlie went to see the day before. Everyone is scared and does not know what to do, but Aunt Willie calls the police to try to help them all find Charlie.

So far everybody is confused of where Charlie is. Sarah thought Charlie would be with the Swans when she found out what had happen, but she was wrong. Aunt Willie thinks she did something wrong when Charlie had left the house because she told his mother that Charlie would always be ok. It is not Aunt Willie's fault though for Charlie's disappearance. It is nobody's fault Charlie did not know what he got into and he is, as of right now lost.
