The book I chose to read and critique was entitled Net Slaves. It was written by Bill Lessard and Steve Baldwin. The book's focus is on the "caste" system that makes up the internet work force. It gives detailed accounts of actual people who inhabit each level of this system. It describes each level in a unique way, giving specific jobs pseudo names such as Garbage men, Cops and Streetwalkers, Social Workers, Cab Drivers, Cowboys and Card Sharks, Fry Cooks, Gold Diggers, Priests and Madmen, Robots, Robber Barons, and Moles. The purpose of giving these pseudo names is to effectively describe the type of life that people who work each level live.

Also, the book addresses the fact that there is a severe lack of a balance of power in the Internet business. Many people who are at the bottom of the system work outrageous hours, have poor working conditions, and are not even adequately compensated for the stress they endure. On the other end of the spectrum, the high classes of the "caste" spend the majority of their time delegating orders from their beach houses via cell phones. The book further goes on to describe the instability of a internet worker.
