Scott's Love And Care For White Fang example essay topic
In a good number of his stories the central conflict is man vs. nature. His impact on American literature has altered the way people write stories. My favorite character in the story would have to be White Fang. White Fang is the key character of the novel. His mother Kic he, (she-wolf) mated with a full wolf and had a litter of pups. White Fang was the only pup to survive a series of famines.
White Fang starts his life out in the wild rather than being pampered. He progresses and becomes more of a dog rather than a wolf. This is all the added reasoning to why White Fang is my favorite character. He dodges adversity and becomes more like a man rather than a monster. Though, as the book progresses he becomes more fierce and untamed. This undoubtedly leads to his demise, but White Fang pulls through.
Scott eventually saves White Fang, and is the first human to show him kindness. Scott changes White Fang's comprehension of human's and becomes an affectionate loving dog. The character I detest the most would have to be Gray Beaver, White Fang's first master. A harsh and unkind man like Gray Beaver showed no care for White Fang. Nevertheless for some odd reason White Fang bonds to him out of certain mutual admiration.
White Fang becomes extremely vicious because of Gray Beaver's care for him. When Gray Beaver becomes addicted to alcohol he heads to Fort Yukon to buy and sell goods. He eventually sells White Fang to monster of man named Beauty Smith. This is why Gray Beaver is the antagonist in the novel White Fang and why I dislike him the most. Judge Scott, Weedon Scott's father reminds me of my dad. Judge Scott throughout the novel doesn't believe in White Fang until White Fang saves his life.
Judge Scott ultimately refers to White Fang as the "Blessed Wolf". This event connects to my life a lot, when I was out driving with my father he wanted to teach me to parallel park. I had already known I was excellent at parking, but he didn't believe I could do it. After a few short minutes I was in the spot without hitting the cone, and he referred to me as a "great parker". Throughout the novel White Fang shows unbelievable personal qualities such as trust, love, and companionship. These three characteristics are shown deeply by White Fang throughout the story.
Love is a characteristic merely brought upon a person with passion for another, which White Fang shows to Collie before she becomes his mate. Trust is a trait White Fang provides to even the nastiest people on the planet like Gray Beaver. Companionship is a characteristic, which White Fang gives to his first affectionate loving master Scott. These are all characteristics that strike me as things I could develop over time.
We all could learn a thing or to from White Fang, he demonstrates his characteristics in a very diverse manner. (Equal) The first third of the book introduces the creation of White Fang from his she-wolf mother. White Fang grows up in the wild, which would be a hard task for any pup to handle. White Fang dodges his burdens and climbs to the top of his man hood before being taken in by Gray Beaver. (an evil man) This third of the book try's to show the relationship of man vs. nature in the world. My gut reaction would assume that Jack London is trying to supply us with the knowledge of life through the eyes of a beast. The second third of the book is very much based around White Fang.
White Fang is traded to a monster of a man. (Beauty Smith) White Fang is taught to fight other dogs until he meets his match in a bulldog, and is saved by Weedon Scott. Jack London tries to provide the American reader with the burdens that a creature or beast goes through in life. Its not just humans that have hardships animals also have a soul in a sense. The end of the book is based on Weedon Scott's love and care for White Fang. Which leads White Fang to become tamed and a normal dog.
White Fang has puppies with Collie and lives a happy life. Jack London likes to end his stories with a happy ending so he tops off a grueling ride with a great ending. White Fang is a great read, and is a book that I would recommend to any 10th grade academic student. This book is short and sweet with a main conflict of nature vs. man. White Fang is a novel written almost through the eyes of a wolf and Jack London provides the spice and action needed to keep you reading. This book is a very positive experience by exploring the importance of companionship in another being.
The main idea of White Fang is dog-nature vs. wolf-nature and how they are different and equal. This novel illuminates the wolfish traits of both men and animals. This novel is great you should read it.
