War on Iraq Is war evil when it comes to protecting our own safety and freedom? Certain people take patriotism for granted, or just plainly regard it as though they do not care. War is there to protect our freedom. Thus, we sleep better at night not worrying about ourselves, our loved ones, and what happens around us. The local news reported that the United States converted about 60% of the Iraqi cities. The other 40% is the cities that are still fighting.

It is not a total victory yet. I support the United States for going into the war and there are many reasons why I support it. By going into the war, the United States provides the Iraqi people aid, such as: food, medication, water, construction of medical institutes, and shelter. I think the war would be beneficiary for the Iraqi people because it would help them get rid of a tyrant.

In the past history, when Hitler or Stalin was removed from power, a great weight was lifted off from their countries's holder. The main point is that, the United States is going into the war for the oil, getting rid of tyrants, and making the world a better place to live and free from tyranny. I support the United States for going into war because even if we do lose men and women fighting for our country, we know they died for a cause, which is fighting for their country. Also, if the United States wins the war between Iraq, we would still be the most powerful country, even more powerful because of the oil we will be gaining. We all know that if a country has a lot of oil, then it has economic advantages. Most of the cities that are presently captured were mostly glad the American troops entered and liberated them.

According to the Washington Post poll on April 9th, 2003, 80% of the population supported the war, 17% opposed, and 3% had no opinion. During a war, there are bound to have casualties or deaths. From a local news report, it stated that there were at least a hundred soldiers who were killed in action, six prisoners of war, and some casualties. Innocent lives have been and probably many more will be lost. We would have to live with the lost and sacrifice that we are enduring. The United States soldiers have been trained and pushed to the limit with the right training.

The United States does not know yet if Saddam Hussein is still alive, but most experts say that he is. On the other hand, by having the United States fight in the war can cause a lot of damage to the people and land in Iraq. If the United States were not to go into war, more people will live and not get hurt. People will be happier and not worry about what's going to happen to their loved ones and their surroundings.

What good will it do, for the United States to go to war? It will only make the problems between Iraq and U.S. worse. What happens if Iraq builds or constructs biological weapons? We don't know what else Iraq have planned for the United States.

It could be worse then it already is now. People do not realize how serious the war between Iraq and the U.S. is. Most don't even know how it started and when it did. For the United States to go into war, it would make a big mess with Iraq and other countries. What would happen after the war between Iraq and United States? Would it be bad news or would it be good news?

No one knows the answer right now, so if President Bush thinks that the United States is going into war, it is a good thing, and maybe people should just listen to his opinions and let him do whatever he wants to do, even if it is bad. I think that if the United States is very noble. It is not only trying to get rid of Saddam Hussein, but it is also protecting the world from terrorism and tyranny. The United States is known to be the most powerful country in the world. In addition to this title, they also are seen as the policemen of the world. With those two titles, the U.S. is allowed to act upon the best interest of themselves and the other "free" countries.

I would try to find a diplomatic way out of the war, but if diplomacy does not work, then we would have to act. Before this whole war, President Bush did give Saddam Hussein ultimatums and warnings, but Saddam would just ignore them. However, he did comply with our demand for sending inspectors in Iraq. The inspectors did find some clues about Saddam building weapons of mass destructions, but we did not find the actual armaments. If one were to be suspected to build weapons of mass destruction, one would not let the enemies find out. Saddam may very well have hidden those weapons just like any person who would be suspect to be in possession of such artillery.

One thing I will never forget was when my grandfather, a Vietnam veteran, told me when I was sitting alone with him that he did not want me to see the horrible events that he has been through. People that you have been attached to and treat them as brothers, die in front of your eyes. Even though war seems like it is the worse thing that could happen to a person, the morals behind it makes things a little bit better. Those people, who died for this war, did so for a good cause. During the whole war, my grandfather told me that even though he suffered a lot, he still did his best to accomplish his mission. I think what he wanted to tell me was that no matter what happens, you should always do what is best for yourself and for others.

At first, I thought it was kind of selfish, but as I thought about it, it made more and more sense. If you could change the world and try to make it a better place to live in, would you not do it in a heartbeat? I tried to make sense of the whole war on Iraq, but the fact of the matter is, we are trying to give other people the gift of freedom. As it happened recently in the news, when the U.S. troops entered Baghdad, the people were actually happy to see them. The troops helped the locals take down Saddam Hussein's statues. Although there were some chaos after a couple of days after that, such as theft in hospitals and museum, but everything went back to normal.

I am for this war because the bottom line is we are ultimately fighting for a good cause, and no matter what other people say; our troops are risking their lives to protect our freedom. Those who oppose the war are just ignorant and hypocrites because they do not know how lucky they are to be free. They do have the freedom of speech for speaking their minds, and that is why it is so great to be living in the United States of America because you are free unlike some people out there.
