Servant In The Tribe Black Hawk example essay topic
This would not be the end thou, because some time after his death his own son would be sacrificed and consumed by sadness in order to end the dark era of his fathers ruling. He would marry his mother and kill his father, without knowing it. So it came the day when a different kind of chief began to rule the tribe. This leader's name was Wind of Rage and he had a completely different way of thinking he was filled with dreams of conquest and brought long years of war to the tribe, staining the sacred land of peace with tons of blood from enemies and every other person who disagreed with him.
After conquering many tribes the chief got married and after a while a son came to his life. He was very happy for it and by the time the baby reached 6 months a very Especial ceremony was arranged, a ceremony where all the wizards from the tribe should come together in order to give the baby a name. But something strange happened, in the middle of the ceremony the oldest and wisest from the wizards described the baby as doomed. He told Wind of Rage that his violent acts were responsible for the dark future of the baby.
He explained him that it was this baby the one chosen to fulfill the ancient prophecy. To this revelation wind of rage got very angry and scared, so he decided to get rid of the baby warning everybody about giving opinions or any kind of advice that contradicted his decision. It was ordered to one of his warriors to take the bay to a distant place and there kill him, offering the baby for sacrifice to the gods in order to change the ancient prophecy. The warrior obeyed and took the baby far away from the tribe but he simply couldn't kill the child. Instead he took the baby to another tribe, located in a very distant place, a lace that would be safe from being conquered by Wind of Rage.
When the warrior reached the tribe he gave the child to a servant he encountered near one of the main lagoons. The warrior explained the situation briefly to the servant and asked him to raise the baby as his own and then he left. Many years later the little boy named Black Hawk (his name was given by the servant that raised him. It not only described his strange coming to the servant's life but also his fighting abilities) grew up to become one of the tribes best warriors enjoying a very happy life. Everything was alright for him until one day a stranger told him that his fate was sealed with a prophecy that said that he would kill his father and marry his own mother. These phrases changed Black hawk's life from that day on.
At first he didn't believe it but after a while he started to worry about it so he decided that for the love he had for his parents it would be better to leave. He left his tribe and wondered for a long time searching for a place to settle. One day he heard about Wind of Rage, the cruel leader of a tribe not too far a way from where he was. He heard about the atrocities made by Wind of Rage and figured out that it would make a big difference in his life to defeat this Chief and free all the people under his power from the hate and endless war he brought to them. So he joined an army of skilled warriors and attacked Wind of rage's tribe by surprise.
A huge battle was fought for many days until finally Wind of rage was defeated and killed. Many prices were offered to Black Hawk for his achievement, among them the honor of having the choice of marrying Wind of Rage's widow: Wandering Feather. Black Hawk accepted all the prices and after being recognized as the chief of the tribe he decided to marry Wandering Feather. The new couple had children and led the tribe toward its long desired peaceful way of leaving, but despite of how hard Black Hawk tried things never returned to the way everybody wanted.
From time to time many problems arouse and finally a very strange and disgusting sickness invaded the tribe. In his concern Black Hawk reunited the tribe's wizards seeking help, everybody agreed to help but one, the wisest and oldest of all the wizards. He refused to see the chief by all means saying that seeing the face of his leader scared him. After these insinuations Black Hawk ordered the wizard t see him and even warned him about refusing to do so, thus the wizard finally agreed and appeared before Black Hawk. Things wouldn't change thou, because the wizard would talk but would not look at the chief's face. Blinded with anger the chief insulted the wizard in many ways and finally the wizard looked at him and said that he saw the savior and the cause of the problem in Black Hawk's face.
He added that he was the cause of the problems, because he was the chosen one for fulfilling the ancient prophecy. After hearing these words Black Hawk got even more angry and insulted the wizard telling him that he was a traitor and that he should leave for his own safety. The wizard left but not without causing many doubts in the chief's head, doubts he lately confessed to his wife. He explained her the way a stranger approached him in his tribe and told him that he was destined to kill his father and marry his own mother, causing him to leave the tribe.
On the other side Wondering Feather tried t calm him and told that it would be a good idea to see if his father was still alive, he agreed and sent someone to find it out. After a few days the warrior came back but it seemed that he didn't have good news. He told the chief that his father died a few days ago, but not without confessing that Black Hawk wasn't his real son. Hearing these words scared Black Hawk very much, seeing this his wife tried to calm him one more try by telling him that he had no reason to worry because the son she had with Wind of Rage was killed due to the same prophecy. At the same moment that Wondering Feather spoke these words an immense terror arouse in her interior because maybe her child was not killed after all.
She started thinking a lot about the matter and decided that it would be wiser and safer to stop searching for the truth. But despite how hard she tried she couldn't convince her husband. Ultimately in his desperation Black Hawk asked to see the warrior who was ordered to kill Wind of Rage's child and sent a few servants to bring the warrior to his presence. When he was found, the warrior was taken to the presence of Black Hawk, who interrogated him for many hours.
During these time the warrior told the chief time after time that he killed the child, but he seemed so nervous that Black Hawk didn't believe him. Finally the chief lost his temper and told the warrior to either tell the truth or die, because it was pretty obvious that he was lying. Scared as he was the warrior started to cry and finally confessed that he couldn't kill the child so he gave it to a servant in the tribe Black Hawk came from. After hearing these words Black Hawk petrified and left, he realized that he was the chosen one to fulfill the prophecy, he was destroyed. He didn't know what to do, his suffering was so big that no one would be able to describe it.
It wasn't the end thou, when he got home he saw Wandering Feather lying in the floor killed by her own hands. In that moment Black Hawk couldn't take it anymore and blinded himself with the same knife that his mother and wife used to kill herself. The following day Black Hawk announced to the tribe that he was leaving for everybody's sake. He was leaving to suffer and die somewhere else, taking the tribe's sickness with him. So he did, he left the tribe leaving a very confused tribe. Confused because everybody saw him as a very good leader but at the same time they saw as the rot of all the sickness that afflicted the tribe.
From that day on, peace reigned in the tribe once more and the story of Black Hawk was told to all the generations to come in order to avoid a similar event happening ever again.
