Violence Against women by the Republic of India Background of Violence against women: Violence against women has been going on ever since the start of civilization. Women have always been lower than man in every nation, country and city in the world and in every aspect of life. It is still okay for people living in other nations for them to beat women, and it still happens in nations that restrict it and half the time women abusers never get punished. In some nations it is acceptable to commit battery on a women.

Women are needed in many governments, the lack of having female leaders is the problem for many nations and governments. Many nations despise of the idea of women with power, because they believe that only men are supposed to rule and have power. The reasons vary though in developed countries and undeveloped countries, in developed countries and undeveloped countries the main reasons are the abuser is under the influence of either alcohol or some kind of drug. This is a weapon against violent crimes, that are done to millions of women nationwide. Beatings, rape, murder and verbal abuse are all violent acts that are committed against women every year. If the world doesn't recognize women's rights the world will never be able to grow economically or socially.

UN Involvement: The United Nations has been involved with this conflict ever since the UN was created. The UN took an enormous step forward when they created the World Conference on Women. The World Conferences on Women have all helped take many steps forward in abolishing this conflict period. One of the main steps that they have taken is how they established a platform where women can address the UN with all their needs and their issues they did this at the Fourth World Conference on Women. Another historic step forward for women and the advance of equality between sexes, was the women's right to vote in some but few nations. The declaration, which was signed by Beijing, Stated that, "we believe that NGO experience in Beijing provide a basis for defining principles that should guide the UN in making arrangements for future events".

This document acts ast he basis for all actions taken by NGO's in the new millennium. A widely excepted resolution passed by both the General Assembly and the ECOSOC, Elimination of Violence Against Women, directed the entire effort to doing away with violence aimed at women. Resolution E/1999, 8 took a huge step forward by creating a "Programme of Action Against Violence in Society which catalogues measure to combat violence against women and addresses protection for victims... ". This resolution was one of the best and took a stance against the way media portrays violence against women as an acceptable action. India's Policy: India has voted on numerous resolutions on Violence Against Women, we fully support the fact that women should not be abused and that it should be illegal nationwide.

Those who do commit this crime shall be punished by the government in his or her native country. We do believe in equalization between genders and that women should have a say in governmental issues. We realize how big of a problem and conflict this is, many women are getting beaten, raped, murdered, sexually harassed, and Verbally abused as we speak. The government of India believes that we should take more extreme actions on stopping and abolishing this conflict for good. We believe that offenders of this crime shall be punished with more extreme measures and that governments of all nations should speak of this topic frequently and deliberately. These actions hopefully slow the rate of women getting abused and should make violence against women a crime that no one wants to commit and that people become afraid to commit this crime.

A stop of this conflict will take a long time but will help societies all over the world if women are involved in the government. India's Policy (cont'd): Equality equals less war and more peace and that's what the UN's main goal is and that is there overall objective. We believe that if more women become more active in governments nationwide that it will help the conflict of war and overall peace. Violence against women is wrong the thought of women getting raped constantly every day is appalling and disgusting to the UN.

Almost every single women who lives a life of at least 25 years experiences some type of abuse, ranging from sexual harassment to verbal abuse and all the way to rape. Women of all ages can get raped, many young girls not even in there teens have been raped or sexually harassed. Even more in their teens have been sexually abused, verbally abused, or just plain out abused. This conflict should be taken more seriously by the whole nation and needs some immediate attention and actions taken right away.
