TriSecure's use of Reflective Listening Theory Carl Rogers died suddenly on February 4, 1987, after a surgery for a broken hip. But all was not lost. Carl Rogers left behind the Theory of Reflective Listening. In this paper I will discuss seven principles of Carl Rogers Reflective Listening theory and how I would implement them into TriSecure.

Seven principles that TriSecre will embrace are to follow. I will discuss the principles here with ways we will implement and teach them: 1. Listen more than talk You should listen to what is being said more then you should talk. Only interrupt if absolutely necessary. Don't spend the time you should be using to listen and understand the other person to think of what you will stay next. 2.

Respond to the other person's feelings Show genuine concern for personal maters. People will open up and feel like you care if you are genuine. When people feel like you care and or concerned about them the communication will take on a more personal feel and more could be accomplished. 3. Restate and clarify the essence of what has been said It is very important to restate and clarify what has been said in the conversation. This will help flush out any miss-understandings and let the other person know that you really understand.

It also helps the other person realize that they are important and you will take the time to help them. 4. Do not evaluate, judge, or advise the person You should never tell anyone how he / she feels. You are not in there shoes and different situations affect people in different ways. Instead listen to the employee and restate and clarify with the person until you understand how they feel. 5.

Use open-ended questions Use open-ended questions to encourage open communication and full non-structured answers. By doing this the person will really open up and feel as if you care and are giving your undivided attention. 6. Stick to their frame of reference, not yours Pick your responses with emotion trying to respond with acceptance and empathy. Try picture yourself in there shoes and how it is affecting them. 7.

Good body language. Body language is very important. A lot can be said with it and many times it is opposite of what you are trying to accomplish. Use body language that will help you shush as facing the speaker, maintaining posture, keeping proximity, and eye contact. Try to avoid bad body language such as slouching, fidgeting, and low eye contact.

All of the above seven components are just as important as the next and employees will be exposed to them In TriSecure. I will encourage people to use the Reflective Listening theory in any inside and outside communications they would have in the course of the day. I would encourage the use of the Reflective Listening theory at an early stage of employment. I would do this by having all new hires attend a short class on the Reflective Listening theory which would include examples and group work to practice the principles. I would also require that each current employee attends the same class at least once a year. I would also encourage employees to think other employees and outside entities for using the Reflective Listening theory with them.

Employees will be expected to use the seven key points and work torrid becoming a good responsive listener. It will also be encourage practicing it when you leave work. TriSecre will embrace Reflective Listening and as a result become more efficient and effective then it's competition.
