The T. V show ' Girlfriends' is very eye catching for young women between the ages of 16-35. It deals with girl related issues, for example: what am i going to wear on my first date, or do i look fat? These are some of the topics friends talk about. The show is based on four African American women who have been friends since early childhood, it takes place now in the present. The girls are in there mid-20's-early 30's. The characters names are Jone, Tony, Mya, and Lin.

Some of the topics which they talk about include marriage, financial problems, legal issues, children, and fashion. Jone is a highly known at tourney, Mya is Jone's secretary, Tony is a real estate agent, and Lin is a free soul. In the show Tony and Jone are having relationship problems, and Mya is envious of the new secretary that Jone has because she misses the relationship that her and Jone use to have between each other. Mya also loves the gossip in which her and Jone used to share, they share it now and then but not as frequent as they used to. Tony and her husband are having financial problems because her husband has gotten into a huge debt due to the fact that she is a very high mate nance type of woman. Her wedding ring alone cost fifty thousand dollars, she believes that if he is poor then they cannot be together because she cannot live a poor life.

After she finds out that they are very deep in debt she wants to file for a divorce. He makes her realise that money is not everything and that things can be solved but it takes love and time. He re sites their wedding vowels to make her realise that money isn't everything and that it all takes time to solve problems. Tony loves him so that's the main reason why she gives him another chance, but he also did allot for her to realise that she could be losing her soulmate, another person who helped her find that out was her friend Jone.

Jone helps her out by kicking her out of her house and telling her what a great husband she has and how she has become a better person with him. Jone is having relationship problems because she is very confused and not sure about who she really loves, its either her boyfriend or her boyfriend's friend in which she feel's is her soulmate. She is debating among herself and her friends over which guy to choose. Is her man her soulmate or is it his best friend? She consults with one of her friends and her secretary and lets them opinion ate on the situation. Jone's man is on vacation while this whole thing is happening and he has no clue, the only person who knows is her man's friend.

Jone is a person who always has her head on straight and is always making good decisions and giving great advice. She also is a great friend that is very dependable and reali able, because she has given Lin a place to stay for months at a time. She is the type of person that you can fall back on. Jone likes to keep some of her problems to her self because she believes that she should solve them amongst herself or with the person whom she is having issues with.

She always looks at the pro's and con's in the situation. After putting good thought in Jones problem she decides to stay with her boyfriend because she does not want to hurt someone who she loves and is and innocent bystander to the situation that's going on. Even if she is sacrificing her so called 'soulmate'. While she is deciding this is when she helps Tony realise what she may lose. Later on Mya becomes upset because she found out what was going on with Jone and that the only two people that knew where Tony and the new secretary. But after everything their relationship with one another stayed the same.

In conclusion, no matter how big or small the issue is they seem to help one another out, that's why their relationship grows stronger each day. Jone and Tony are similar in the way that they are both strong people with high potential. The T. V show girlfriends is very realistic for the fact that they deal with day to day problems that some relationships and friendships deal with. It also shows you how women in society today deal with their problems, lifestyles and morals in the present.
