Does Australia need more people to help economic growth or need zero population growth to help upsurge the economy? (Kirkwood et al. 1987) This essay will argue that Australia should allow more people to immigrate to this country from an economic point of view for several reasons. The first reason is migrants will help to increase the size of labour force. The shortages of labour force will be filled in by the migrants. (Kirkwood et al.

1987) Immigration has supply extra skilled labour without the cost of education and training. (Clark: 1997) The skilled people will contribute to the Australian economy by introducing new skills and experience to the workforce. (Clark: 1997) The labour force will be more adaptable and better trained, therefore, more productive. This may create the conditions for investment and growth. Secondly, migrants will bring larger domestic market and this will stimulate investment. (Kirkwood et al.

1987) Some migrants invest money into by starting up a business and will offer employment. (Immigration and population growth 1997) Migrants help to boost a buoyant economy by investment, for example buying share, house, property or vehicle. Exports prices will increase when economic grow. Migration has expanded the size of the economic for goods and services. (Clark: 1997) Finally, one of the advantages of immigration is cultural benefits.

The citizen of Australia can learn different cultural from different country. Migrants will introduce their tradition food to this country. For example, Indians will bring in curries and as Chinese will introduce! S STim-sum!" into this country. Besides that, migrants will introduce traditional medicine from different cultural to improve the health of the country. This will help to widen the perspective on the world.

In conclusion, more people should be allowed to immigrate to Australia for three economic reasons and they are immigration increased size of labour force, skills, bringing larger domestic market that will stimulate investment and bringing cultural benefits. Therefore, in my opinion, Australia need more people to maintain a strong economy and develops to its full potential. (325 words)
