My promotion to Editor-in-Chief proved to be the best choice for my own personal growth and productivity, not only for the betterment of the newspaper. Though writing was my passion, I realized that I had a natural inclination toward perfection in language and grammar. I heard nothing but constant praise on the improvement of all articles I edited. The raise in salary wasn't a bad incentive either!

Here I was, at the prime of my business life, when tragedy hit close to home. My husband, a para rescue man flying in a Black Hawk helicopter, was shot down during a mission to pick up a down pilot from enemy territory. The plane was never recovered, and I received the news that he was missing in action. I faced the possibility of raising our three children on my own, without my beloved Richard.

I agonizingly waited for news in vain. After a year without any word, I could no longer wait in silence. I decided that the best course of action would be to investigate my husband's whereabouts. The skills I had acquired as an Investigative Reporter gave me the confidence to pursue the case of Richard's disappearance.

I was certain that I could find him alive, because I knew he would never give up and he had unsurpassable survival skills. So I made the journey, leaving my children with their grandmother. I resolved to give up my search if I had no lead after one month. I couldn't put my children through any more misery, losing their father, then possibly their mother.
