Students are often challenged by school. Who wants to go to work then come home and do more work? Teachers have to make learning fun to solve this resistance in students to learn and study. There are a number of ways to help students cope, enjoy and be more successful in school. Consider the following ideas and try them with your students. 1.

Allow brainstorming and do not penalize students for errors in spelling, punctuation, and grammar. These can always be corrected later. 2. Have the student mark the items on the test that they are positive are correct and only grade them on what they now claim to really know. The test becomes a learning tool and the goal in school is mastery not just passing. 3.

Keep Homework Fun and Interesting. All homework assignments should provide the opportunity for learning new things that the student wishes to explore within a creative framework. For example, a diary approach or observation of others with notes or surveying others about questions may facilitate more learning than simply write a paper. 4. Stress team learning so each person can contribute and do a part of the assignment.

The benefit is for each person to receive feedback from a peer and to also have to give constructive feedback. 5. Encourage students to discover the benefit of double checking their work and correcting their own mistakes. Sometimes, they need to "sleep on it" and look at their paper or assignment as if seeing it for the first time. Reward and give the opportunity for double checking in class by having other students mark any errors they see wrong and giving bonus points for finding errors in others work.

Extra points for a paper without any typo errors detectable by another student or the teacher can also reward attention to detail. By adding creativity and variety to school and homework teachers can make learning really fun!
