Reflex Arcs and Reaction Rate Objective: To investigate different reflex arcs and reaction rate. Quickly slide the reflex hammer across the sole of the foot from heel to toe. d) describe the movement of the toes PUPILLARY REFLEX 7. have the subject close one eye for about one minute. ACHILLES REFLEX - When the Achilles tendon is tapped with the reflex hammer the foot / toes twitch upward. BABINSKI REFLEX - When the soles of the foot are touched by the reflex hammer, the subjects foot / toes moves towards the body. The toes also wiggle.
PUPILLARY REFLEX - When the subject is asked to close one eye for one minute and then to open it, the eye that was closed had a larger pupil which in a short time returned to the same size as the eye that was open during that minute. - When both eyes are closed for one minute and a penlight is shone in one eye upon opening, the pupil with the light shone into it became smaller faster then the other pupil.
