Teaching Of Intelligent Design example essay topic

378 words
A recent parody religion, The Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster was created in 2005 to protest a decision made by the Kansas State Board of Education to allow intelligent design to be taught in school classrooms to students beside evolution. The maker of this religion is a physics graduate named Bobby Henderson. He believes in a creator called the Flying Spaghetti Monster and calls for "Pastafarianism" to be taught in science classrooms, showing his argument against the teaching of intelligent design. As far as reaction, there seem to be many more people against the FSM movement then for it. Christians are appalled that people are not only against the teachings of intelligent design but also that people would go to such extremes to have it stopped. Others such as the bands Hoobastank, New York Dolls, and Barenaked Ladies are in favor of the movement.

I think that the FSM movement I a great idea that will hopefully show people that the teachings of intelligent design should still be illegal in schools. By showing the letters that the Kansas school board wrote it acts as visual aid and shows how it does not matter that you cannot disprove the laws of the FSM church, all that matters is the teaching of intelligent design. It seems to me that the only reason America is starting to teach intelligent design is for personal beliefs and personal gain. If not, then why aren't we teaching another religion that can't be disproved, like FSM, in schools? I think it is wrong to teach something that can offend students and make them feel unsafe in schools for someone else's heavenly stature. Belief in religion should be practiced on you own time and you should not be forced on people who do not have interest in learning about a unknown a celestial world.

Religion is something that is called science because we don't have a better name for it. Science is something that can be either proven or disproved. Religion cannot be proven or disproved. It cant be considered a science until one of those have happened.

Therefore, I believe it should never be taught in science classrooms..
