Their Lives For Their Flag example essay topic

355 words
What does the flag mean to me? The flag means a lot to me. I know that many Americans have died protecting our flag. Many people have died raising our flag also. I remember my father explaining that statue with the soldiers raising the flag to me.

He told me how these soldiers would sacrifice themselves just to raise a piece of cloth. Now that I'm older, I feel that I would do the same. I also realize that this is much more than just a piece of cloth, It is a flag; The American flag. It stands for liberty, justice, freedom, and so much more.

It stands for our country, and disrespecting this flag down would be like disrespecting my self, my country, and every other American citizen. I remember another story my father told me. It was about my Uncle Tom. He was in the navy, and when he was out to sea, his ship was attacked. People were dieing in front of him, blood was being shed; His ship was sinking. He and a few other people ran after their flag.

They risked their lives for their flag, their country. I felt very proud of my nation after hearing this story again just a few days ago. The flag isn't just a piece of cloth to show that 'America' exists. It is there to represent us.

People would die for the flag, just as they would die for their country, there is no difference. Writing this essay reminded me of a play I performed in during 3rd grade. It was about a boy in 2nd grade and what the word America meant to him. He sounded like the most intelligent boy I had ever heard. This poem brings tears to my eyes to this day. This boy had such a patriotic view on life.

He would live and die protecting his country. I would do the same. hope this is good enough took me a while.
