We have spent over two billion dollars on the bomb at Hiroshima. On August 6, 1945 at 8: 15 amin southwest Japan the Enola Gay (named after the pilot's mother) dropped one of two bombs on Japan. The first bomb was named little boy and the second bomb was named fat man. As a result of the second bomb seventeen-hundred people died. The attack on Pearl Harbor left the United States with about two thousand Americans dead. Most of the people that were killed were women and children.
The Manhattan project was the name of the project for the atomic bomb. This was meant to be kept top secret. The government tried to cover up the testing by lying to the public. It turns out that all along the United States wanted to use the atomic bomb for Germany and the Nazis. In the pacific the United States was having terrible casualties.
On April 12, 1945 President Roosevelt died of a stroke. July 16, 1945 the United States decided to test the bomb code name trinity the test took place in New Mexico dessert. People in Amarillo Texas heard the sound of the bomb going off. For a split second the bomb was hotter than the sun.
Twenty countries have atomic bombs. After the war very few people thought of the effects of the use of hunter bombs on civilians. In 1964 the Chinese developed the atomic bomb. The atomic bomb was not necessary for defeating Japan. Within two weeks of the bombing Stalin ordered for the focus to be on his atomic bomb projects. Rumors have been spread that Japan was on the verge of surrender.
But others say they were only going to surrender because of the bomb. The attack on Hiroshima was a great tragedy for the people pf Japan.
