Video surveillance is the use of cameras to watch, spy, or just to check up on someone that you think might be doing something wrong. Video surveillance is a ethical way of watching people under the circumstances that it is being used the right way, and it's for a purpose of catching someone doing something wrong either at a workplace or at home. The two types of video surveillance used is overt surveillance, which is the use of cameras which are in plain sight, and covert surveillance, which is the use of hidden cameras. Both of these types of surveillance are completely ethical if the rules are followed for each one. Covert surveillance is the use of video cameras that are hidden, and cannot be detected by the human eye. I think covert surveillance is perfectly ethical as long as the rules are followed for the use of it.

Covert surveillance can be used at a job under the conditions that it is only being used to see if an employee is engaged in any unlawful activities. I think this is a good idea because if you are an owner of a business, you should have the right to know everything that was going on at the workplace. If an employer thought that a employee was engaging in illegal activities at the work, he has every right to find out, and by using covert surveillance is the best way to find out. For an employer to be able to use covert surveillance, they must fill out a form regarding why they believe covert surveillance would be necessary, and must address such beliefs of why they believe that one or more of the employees are engaged in an illegal activity in the workplace, and what will be seen by the cameras.

I think this is a good idea to have regulations on covert surveillance because if there wasn't anything regarding the use of it, people would put them in places where it would not be appropriate such as locker rooms or bathrooms. For these reasons, is why an employer needs to get approved for the right to use covert surveillance, and cannot without the proper permit or license. Under one circumstance is the use of covert surveillance legal to use without a permit or license, which is in your own home. I think this is perfectly fine to use in your own home because you should be able to do whatever you want there.

Covert surveillance in the home could be useful if you had a babysitter watching your children while you were at work and you just wanted to make sure everything was fine there while you were at work. People can hide cameras in small objects such as teddy bears, smoke detectors, and vcrs, and are almost impossible to detect. The other type of video surveillance used is overt surveillance. Overt surveillance is the use of video cameras that are in plain sight. The use of overt surveillance is completely ethical because the cameras are in plain view for everyone to see. The only rule that has to be followed to use overt surveillance at a workplace is that there are signs warning people that there are cameras in use, and the employees that work there have to sign a paper that they know they are being watched at work while they are there, according to " The National Union of Workers" (web).

Overt surveillance is a very good idea to have at any workplace and is ethical. It is a good idea to have because it will help find people who commit crimes on the premises, or try to rob the store. Another reason surveillance could be used in a good way is checking on Your spouse to see if he or she is doing anything wrong at home that they should Not be doing. If you were married or had someone you lived with and was really Close with like a girlfriend or a boyfriend, and you had the suspicion that they Were doing something wrong like having people over that you did not approve Of, because of your relationship, you could check with a hidden surveillance Camera. This might seem kind of creepy, but if it was for the good of Knowing that your spouse was cheating on you, I think it is a good idea. Surveillance cameras are everywhere and serve a good purpose in Society.

Without the use of surveillance cameras, many people would have Gotten away with many crimes committed.
