Many of us do not realize what the meaning of value is, especially when it comes to the value of education. Most of us from a very small age hear our parents, teachers, mentors and family members advising us of the advantages of an education but do we pay attention or do we take their advice for granted? As a single mother, I have learned that the value of a college education is very valuable. I knew that my parents, teachers, mentors and family members were correct, in order for me to provide a better life for my children and myself I need to finish my education and set an example for my children. Returning to school has not been easy for my children or myself; it has been financially and emotionally straining. There are days that I don't get to see my kids because I have class, group meetings, or homework and I might not have enough time to spend with them.

But my children and I know that this is the price that we have to pay in order for us to have a better life. We have to give a little in order to receive a lot. I took education for granted, thinking that life was simple and that all I needed was a good job and I would be able to provide my children with many things, but did not think of the stability and security that they need in their life. Education is a door to a financially and emotionally opportunity. I will be providing a better life for my children and I will be in a career that I can enjoy.
