My personal corporate growth from my very first job to my current job has been very rewarding and challenging. I am respected by both my peers and my supervisors alike, but there is a part that has not yet been completed which is my education. My goal while completing my Degree in Business Management at the University of Phoenix is to obtain both professional and personal growth. I plan on applying the current philosophies and information that I am going to learn to my professional and personal life.
An education should be a continuing lifetime goal and achievement. One item that I will strive to learn and relearn again is the different management skills and how to apply them into the corporate world. Some of those skills include time management, management of people, and team building. Time management is a very important skill to know how to effetely use. In life, it is hard to juggle the endless waves of tasks that are thrown upon us on a daily basis. Through my studies I wish to learn more about the management of people and a how to build stronger more versatile teams.
With the education that I will receive I hope to learn different ways to resolve both internal and external conflicts and what forms of recognition work the best for the diverse workforce. I have found that I get more work done when working in a team rather than working individually. Although teams are an important structure in the corporate world, teams also make working more enjoyable within today's fast paced corporate environment. It is harder to compete against 200 people rather than working together in teams to complete against nine other teams.
I have found in my experience, teams provide a closer knit working environment as well as a family type feeling. With these important skills in hand I will be able to build upon them and continue to grow up the corporate ladder. With each new promotion that I receive, comes different types of growth. Some of these types of growth include but are not limited to; change in title, additional compensation, increased responsibility, and increased social status.
When I first started in the mortgage business I knew nothing about what I was getting into. What I did know was that I was starting from the bottom level and knew that it would be a long trip up the corporate ladder. With two years of experience in the business under my belt I have been able to learn some of the many facets within the various types of the mortgage business and also significantly increase my title, responsibilities, and salary. As I continue to increase my formal education I hope that I will learn new ideas and strategies that will propel my career immensely while not forgetting the paths that I have already taken.
In the mortgage business it is extremely important that you never burn the bridges behind you. It appears that the most important tools you can learn are the networking and professional commutation skills. Although I believe that you are in control of your own destiny and development, I also believe that it never hurts to know the right people in the right places. I have been extremely lucky to be able to network with many people in a short amount of time.
I hope that through my education I will be able to learn the newest up to date skills in professional networking and communication skills. It is important to remember that as your grow professionally you should equally grow personally. Once I have achieved my degree I look forward to many experiences. Some of those experiences include the respect of my family for obtaining my degree, financial gain, the ability to incorporate important skills such as time management and financial management, and have the ability to look things that life throws me in different perspectives. In conclusion, my experience as a student at the University of Phoenix will open many professional and personal doors. I feel that my education will be comprised of both day to day events in life as well as my formal education with the University of Phoenix.
I am very glad to be return to school in order to continue my passion of learning. My final thought is concluded by the following statement. It is not about how you received an education or what you did for your education; but it is about what your education can do for you in the future.
